After washing, the laundry remains gray, and complex stains are not removed? Do not rush to sin on the powder, perhaps the reason is the low temperature of the water. Why washing machineСамсунг» does not heat water? There are several reasons, ranging from an incorrectly chosen program to a breakdown of internal elements. We list the possible problems and describe in detail the repair of the machine.
The washing machine does not heat water: external causes of the problem
Specially chose a model with the function “Eco bubble” to better wash clothes? If over time things are getting worse and worse, then you should pay attention to the operation of the heating system. First of all, check if the programs really run at low temperatures:
- Set the mode with a high temperature (“Cotton”, “Synthetics”).
- After fifteen minutes, try the hatch glass.
Ideally, it should be warm. If it’s cold, then there’s a problem. Don’t worry, major repairs may not be required. Start with this check:
- Take a look at the control panel. Is the mode selected correctly? Is the temperature set to low by accident? Then it is enough to change the settings to enjoy the efficient operation of the washing machine.
- Recheck the connection of equipment to communications. The hoses must be located strictly according to the instructions, otherwise the water may drain itself. Due to the constant circulation, the washing machine does not have time to heat the water.
External settings and connections OK? Then it’s time to move on to heavy artillery – checking the internal details. How to do this, we will tell in the next paragraph.
Samsung machine stopped heating water: main malfunctions
The heating element (heater) is responsible for heating the water in the washer. A temperature sensor (thermistor, in the photo – a white square element) is installed in the heater housing, which controls the temperature of the water in the tank and sends a signal to the module to turn off the heating.
Here are the main reasons why the heater fails:
- Scale. Hard water in the plumbing contains impurities that eventually settle on the parts of the CMA. Covering the heating element, scale blocks heat transfer. As a result, the element overheats and burns out.
- Break. Another reason for overheating and breakage of the internal coil of the heater is voltage drops in the network. Therefore, experts recommend using stabilizer.
- Temperature sensor failure. If the sensor does not inform the module about the end of heating, the heating element continues to work. The result is overheating and failure.
Another rare and most serious problem is the burnout of the triac on the control board. This part is responsible for the operation of the heater, therefore, in the event of a malfunction, the heating element simply does not activate.
Disassembly of the SMA and search for a heating element
In most models of Samsung washing machines, the heating element is located behind the front panel. It will take time and patience to get to the heater.
Important! If you are not sure where exactly the heater is located, look at the instructions.
Prepare a screwdriver, a container of water and a multimeter to test the heater. Start disassembly:
- Remove the plug from the socket, close the water inlet valve.
- Open the small plinth panel under the loading door.
- Substitute the container, unscrew the filter and drain the water.
- Remove the detergent drawer by pressing the latch in the center.
- Remove the top cover of the CMA by unscrewing the two bolts at the back.
- Remove the control panel by unscrewing the fixing screws on the sides. You don’t have to disconnect the wiring, just lay the panel on top of the case.
- Bend the hatch seal. Pry off the metal clamp with a screwdriver and remove it from its place.
- Load the rubber into the drum.
- Unscrew the bolts of the hatch blocking device (UBL), disconnect the wiring.
- After removing the bolts around the perimeter, lift and remove the front cover to the side.
Great, the car is ready to go. Now you can proceed to the diagnosis and replacement if necessary.
Checking and replacing the heating element and temperature sensor
Directly under the tank you will see the leads of the heating element. To check the item for serviceability, do the following:
- Disconnect the heater wiring.
- Turn the multimeter into ohmmeter mode.
- Attach the sensor probes to the heater contacts.
- Follow the indications on the screen.
A serviceable element will give readings of 25–30 ohms. In the event of a breakdown on the heating element, from 0 to 1 ohm will be displayed. To replace a part, follow the instructions:
- Take an end screwdriver.
- Twist the central nut of the heating element.
- Push the bolt in and carefully remove the part from the tank.
Now you can make sure there is scale. Sometimes, in order to return the element to working capacity, it is enough to remove a thick layer of plaque. Do not rush to complete the installation, first remove the temperature sensor from the heating element housing and ring with a multimeter. A serviceable part at a temperature of 20 degrees will show 6000 ohms. If you lower the sensor into hot water at about 50 degrees, then its resistance should drop and be 1350 ohms.
For more information on how to get and check the thermistor, see the video:
To replace, simply put a new temperature sensor in the socket. A serviceable heating element is also installed in the reverse order. Do not forget to pre-clean the seat from dirt and scale, also lubricate the seal with machine oil so that it sits tightly in the hole.
Repair work completed. To check the health of the heating element, run the Samsung Diamond or another model for a hot water cycle.
It is better to entrust the diagnostics of the control board, which could also provoke a problem, to the master. To prevent problems in the future, use water softeners, start preventive programs with the addition of citric acid from scale.
