Samsung refrigerator errors indicate a malfunction that has occurred in the system. The control module has a self-diagnostic function that detects and displays an error code on the display. Samsung Refrigerator Problems
Unfortunately, the Samsung refrigerator with Know Frost does not always give an error. Often, if the sensor breaks down, the equipment continues to work, and only after disconnecting from the network, a malfunction is displayed on the display. You can turn on the device in test mode, then the system independently determines the cause of the breakdown.
If, nevertheless, an error code appeared on the display, you need to find the decoding. First of all, restart the refrigerator, it may be a system failure:
- Disconnect the unit from the mains.
- Wait 10-15 minutes.
- Reconnect.

- R5 or 02 – the refrigerator compartment sensor has failed. It is necessary to check the contacts for a short circuit, diagnose the part and install a new element.
- D5 or 09 – The temperature sensor is not sending messages. There is no contact between it and the control board. The module does not receive data on the temperature in the chamber. Diagnose and replace the defective element: sensor, wiring, contact repair.
- F5 or 08 – the sensor does not work in the freezer. The solution is similar to the previous case.
- E5 or 07 – The ambient temperature measurement sensor is not functioning. Some models have such developments built in. The sensor, measuring indicators outside, helps to automatically regulate the climate inside the chamber.
- RD – the air damper does not work correctly. Needs inspection and repair.
- DD – a problem with the wiring in the refrigerator. It is necessary to inspect the plume for burns and carry out repairs.
To start the refrigerator in test mode, you need to press a certain key combination. How to do this, you can see in the instructions. If a remote control is included, you can start the test using it.
- Simultaneously press the two buttons “Free Temp” and “Rel. Temp.
Important! The test mode is not designed to display a fault code on the display. It only allows you to verify the performance of a particular part.
If the sensor fails, the corresponding indicator on the panel will flash, and an audible signal may sound. To cancel the command, hold the Super Freeze and Super Cool keys for 8 seconds.
To start the self-diagnosis in normal mode, hold down the same keys, which may also be called “Quick Cool” and “Quick Freeze”. Different LEDs will light up, see the instructions for the meaning. After 30 seconds, the refrigerator will return to normal operation.
In test mode, the display may show FF or Fd. These are not error codes. The symbols FF mean that the fan and motor are being tested. You can see for yourself whether the part rotates or does not function. Fd indicates evaporator heater and air damper diagnostics.
