Mackerel meat is rich in fats, proteins, vitamins, micro- and macroelements, unsaturated fatty acids. You can cook this fish in various ways, but salted mackerel is especially popular.

Salted mackerel with onions and spices

The mackerel prepared according to this recipe has a special aroma and taste due to the presence of spices in the brine. To cook fish, you will need: – 2 mackerels; – 1 onion; – 5 carnations; – 8 black peppercorns; – 5 bay leaves; – 0,5 liters of water; – 2,5 tablespoons of salt; – 1,5 tablespoons of sugar; – 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Peel the mackerel from the entrails and rinse under running water, pat dry with paper towels. Cut the processed fish into equal-sized pieces and place in a jar, sandwich with onion rings and sprinkle with pepper, cloves and bay leaves. Cover the mackerel with vegetable oil.

Bring water to a boil, add salt and granulated sugar to it. Turn off the heat, stir the brine and leave to cool. Pour the cooled solution into the fish in a jar, cover with a lid and refrigerate for a day.

Salted mackerel goes well with mashed potatoes or boiled rice

To salt fish in this way, you will need: – 2 large mackerels; – 2 onions; – 1 glass of vegetable oil; – 2 carnations; – 5 black peppercorns; – 2 bay leaves; – 3 tablespoons of salt; – 1 glass of 9% vinegar.

Peel the mackerel, remove the head, spine and skin, then cut it into small pieces. Place the fillets in a container, sprinkle with onion rings on top and top with a marinade of oil, spices, salt and vinegar.

Leave the fish for 5-6 hours at room temperature, then refrigerate. After a couple of hours, the mackerel can be served.

When choosing fresh mackerel, pay attention to its appearance. The fish should be shiny, moist and firm to the touch, only in this case the quality of the product can be guaranteed

Mackerel marinated with wine

The fish cooked in a wine marinade tastes good and goes well with vegetable dishes. To cook mackerel according to this recipe, you will need the following products: – 4 mackerels; – 1 glass of white wine; – 3 tablespoons of salt; – 1 teaspoon of sugar; – 5 black peppercorns; – 1 lemon; – 2 bay leaves.

Peel the mackerel of entrails and bones, and then put in an enamel cup and sprinkle with black peppercorns, add bay leaves and thin lemon rings.

Combine the wine with salt and sugar, pour the resulting brine over the fish. After that, add cold water to the cup so that it completely covers the fish, cover it with a lid and refrigerate it for a day.
