How to deal with sagging eyelids

Swelling of the eyelids appears as a result of water retention in the body. In this case, to eliminate them, use as little salt as possible. The eyelids can become swollen due to severe eye fatigue. It is necessary to avoid too strong eye strain, you cannot work at the computer for too long or watch TV for a long time, you need to walk more in the fresh air. The eyelids can be saggy due to heart, kidney, or thyroid disease, and treatment of the underlying condition is required to resolve the problem.

To avoid swelling, you need to use special cosmetics that are applied to the eyelids before bedtime. To prevent the skin around the eyes from swelling overnight, it is recommended to sleep on your back. In the morning, you can apply ice cubes to the overhanging eyelids, this will improve blood circulation and help eliminate edema.

The cause of swelling of the eyelids can be allergy to cosmetics. In this case, you need to abandon them and use hypoallergenic cosmetics.

You can solve the problem of hanging eyelids by contacting plastic surgeons for help. In such cases, blepharoplasty is recommended, during which excess fiber and skin are removed. The operation is performed under local anesthesia for one to two hours. The patient’s stitches are removed on the sixth day. The results of the operation are usually positive, with minimal swelling and bruising after blepharoplasty.

In order to remove drooping eyelids, you can do special exercises for the eyes, which helps to improve the elasticity of the skin.

Exercises need to be done daily, in this case, the effect can be achieved in a couple of months:

  • eyes will be more expressive
  • puffiness will decrease
  • visual acuity will increase

Gymnastics for the eyelids should be done while sitting on a chair in front of a mirror. This is necessary to control muscle function.

Before starting gymnastics for the eyelids, warm up: look forward, then move your eyes all the way to the left, after a few seconds – to the right, then up and down. Do 5 reps. After warm-up, do a set of exercises.

Exercise number 1. Raise your head up, look at the ceiling, blink quickly for 30 seconds.

Exercise number 2. Close your eyes, count to three, open your eyes wide, look into the distance. Then squeeze your eyelids tight again. The forehead and eyebrows should be fixed. Repeat the exercise 5 times in a row.

Exercise number 3. Close your eyes, put your index fingers on the upper eyelids.

They should be at 45 degrees to or perpendicular to the nose.

Open your eyes, overcoming the resistance of your fingers, after a couple of seconds close them again. Make sure that your eyebrows do not move during the exercise.
