Dreadlocks are popular among young people and not only because they allow you to look bright, unusual and attract attention. But dreadlocks made from natural hair have a drawback: they require a lot of care and spoil the hair. Therefore, an alternative option was invented – safe dreadlocks.
Safe dreadlocks are blanks, woven by the master in advance, which are attached to the hair in a special way. This is the best option for those with short hair (from 5-6 cm), and also a good way to hide an unsuccessful haircut. And most importantly, they do not harm real hair. Subsequently, you can remove them yourself or from a master.
Safety dreadlocks are made from kanekalon, a man-made fiber created in Japan for the production of wigs. Today it is a popular material for creating afro hairstyles. In addition to him, felt is also used to make dreadlocks.
Previously, the kanekalon color scheme included only 42 natural shades, but then others appeared – all the colors of the rainbow.
Benefits of kanekalon:
- durability
- a variety of colors and the ability to create absolutely any image, including a fantasy one
- you can choose a fiber that glows in the dark
- the ability to adjust the length and thickness of the dreadlocks
- thanks to the heat treatment of the fibers in the oven, the strands do not break when combing, do not get confused and are able to keep curling for a long time
It takes three hours or more to attach safety dreadlocks to braided hair. Their care is not too difficult, and correction is usually not required due to the short wearing period. Also, once-used blanks can be woven again, thereby saving money. You should wash your hair about once every ten days with regular shampoo diluted with water, but without using a conditioner balm. It is advisable to wash only the hair roots, without affecting the dreadlocks themselves. In the first week after creating a hairstyle, the scalp may itch, but you can try to neutralize this effect by rubbing an infusion of chamomile flowers.
Artificial dreadlocks are worn for two to three months. Walking with them for more than three months is not recommended, because if the hair is not combed for a long time, they begin to get tangled at the roots and turn into real dreadlocks.
Safe dreadlocks are sensitive to high temperatures, therefore it is recommended to avoid drying dreadlocks with a hairdryer, baths and saunas, solarium. You should also be careful with the lighter.
Safe dreadlocks also have disadvantages:
- kanekalon and felt are very easy to distinguish from real hair
- Kanekalon dreadlocks are heavier, the natural hair is
- it is not always easy to choose the material of the ideal shade, therefore, as the hair grows back, the difference is more and more visible
- Kanekalon dreadlocks cannot be repainted
- making safe dreadlocks usually costs more than natural ones
