Sab Simplex – a dietary supplement that relieves intestinal discomfort in children. The active substance in Sab Simplex oral suspension is simethicone. However, the preparation is hardly available in Polish pharmacies. Perhaps that is why Sab Simplex arouses as much admiration as controversy.

Sab Simplex is a dietary supplement known for decades on the German pharmaceutical market. It is intended to be administered to children in intestinal ailments such as flatulence and gas. Although there is no such information in the leaflet, and there are no studies that confirm that the preparation also reduces persistent colic, such opinions often appear among parents of babies.

Sab Simplex drops they are easy to apply – you can give the preparation directly to the baby’s mouth or simply add it to food. However, the question of accessibility remains. Well, you can buy Sab Simplex without a prescription, but definitely not in a Polish pharmacy. The supplement is not admitted to trading on our home market.

Squad Sab Simplex

The main ingredient – simethicone – is responsible for the operation of Sab Simplex. It is widely known and often used a substance that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the intestines. The Sab Simplex leaflet also informs about the content of substances in the preparation such as citric acid, hypromellose, carbomer, sodium benzoate, saccharin, sweeteners, sorbic acid, water, as well as aromas – raspberry and vanilla.

It is an uncomplicated composition, typical for supplements with a similar effect. According to opinions popular among parents, Sab Simplex seems to be more effective. This is due to the dose of the main ingredient and the frequency of its dosing. It turns out that when using Sab Simplex, a single dose of simethicone is administered to the body at one time than in the case of other similar preparations.

Daking Sab Simplex

Sab Simplex drops should be dosed according to the recommendations described in the leaflet. If in doubt, consult your doctor, especially as the drug is not available on the Polish market. The recommended daily servings of Sab Simplex depend on your age – there are different for adults and children in different age groups. The preparation contains the active substance in the amount of 69,19 mg / ml of suspension.

For children under 4 weeks of age, the recommended dosage is 10 drops of Sab Simplex no more than 4 times a day (no more than 1,6 ml of fluid per day). Babies from 4 weeks to 12 months of age can be given daily up to six servings of the drug 15 drops (0,6 ml)with the maximum daily dose being 3,6 ml of suspension. For children older than 12 months and younger than 6 years, portions of 15 drops are also administered (no more than 14 ml during the day).

Attention

Subsequent doses of Sab Simplex are recommended to be administered at 4-6 hours intervals. The frequency of the subsequent doses may be increased for children 6 to 18 years of age and adults as necessary. A single dose for children and adolescents in this case is 20–30 drops (0,8–1,2 ml), and for adults 30–45 drops (1,2 – 1,8 ml).

The side effects of Sab Simlex reported so far are not life threatening. These are usually mild nausea or constipation. However, it is worth taking care of allergy tests that will eliminate the child’s allergy to the main ingredient of the preparation, i.e. simethicone. This can include itching, rash, swollen tongue and face, and even difficulty breathing.

There is little risk to health and life due to this overdose of Sab Simplex. It turns out that the substances contained in it are not absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract, and the whole thing is excreted unchanged in the faeces. However, there may be ailments such as excessive excretion of digestive gases, the intensity of which depends on the recently consumed meals.

There is no evidence that Sab Simplex is harmful – there are even opinions about its high efficiency and reliability. Contraindications are often not seen by pediatricians. But the preparation is available only in the second circulation – in foreign online pharmacies or other online sales channels. Sab Simplex can therefore be stored inappropriately, which is a key issue in the pharmaceutical industry.

In addition, the lack of control by domestic institutions does not ensure that the Sab Simplex supplement has been properly prepared. On the Polish market, you can find other preparations that are slightly less effective due to the lower doses of simethicone, but prepared and stored under controlled conditions. These include Espumisan, Infacol and Bobotic. The price of Sab Simplex and the supplements listed for the same capacity is similar.

Widely available preparations similar to Sab Simplex or Espumisan are agents containing dimethicone, e.g. Esputicon.

Before use, read the leaflet, which contains indications, contraindications, data on side effects and dosage as well as information on the use of the medicinal product, or consult your doctor or pharmacist, as each drug used improperly is a threat to your life or health.
