Colds are a common condition that occurs during periods of low temperature. It is caused by viruses and primarily affects the upper respiratory tract. The most common symptoms of a cold affect the tissues of the nose, throat, mouth and larynx. A cold usually clears up on its own within about 7 days from the onset of symptoms. The group of viruses that cause colds consists of more than 200 different species, mainly rhinoviruses.
The most common symptoms of developing colds include: cough, sore throat, tonsil pain, rhinitis, nasal congestion, low-grade fever or fever, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, headache, loss of appetite. In adults, fever is a rare symptom (unlike in children with a cold). A fever and intense cough in adults may indicate that the flu is developing, not a cold. As a cold develops, other symptoms may also appear – chills, sneezing and others.
Cold symptoms are estimated to develop within 16 hours of exposure to pathogenic agents. The most intense stage of the disease develops within 3-4 days from the moment of infection. Typically, a cough is the longest lasting symptom of a cold.
Rutinacea Junior for immunity
Rutinacea Junior is a line of preparations intended for the youngest and adults, for the sake of their health and immunity, in the period of increased incidence of colds. The line consists of two dietary supplements: Rutinacea Junior syrup and Rutinacea Junior tablets. Both preparations are produced by the Polish company Aflofarm Farmacja Polska, located in Pabianice.
Rutinacea Junior – syrup
Rutinacea Junior syrup is a dietary supplement supporting the immune system. It is intended for use in children from 3 years of age.
The composition of Rutinacea Junior syrup includes, inter alia, blackcurrant extract, raspberry juice, rosehips and others; they are rich sources of vitamin C and antioxidant rutoside. The following methods of administration of Rutinacea Junior syrup are recommended:
- in the case of children over 3 years of age: 4-5 times a day, 1 teaspoon of the preparation,
- in the case of adults: 3-4 times a day, 1 teaspoon of the preparation.
Before use, shake the syrup package in order to distribute the natural sediment. After opening, the syrup should be consumed within 30 days.
Rutinacea Junior – lozenges
Lozenges are another product in the Rutinacea Junior line. This dietary supplement contains vitamin C, rutoside and zinc. It is intended for use in children over 3 years of age. Zinc is an essential trace element for the functioning of the entire human body; according to specialized studies, its supplementation has a better effect on the functioning of the immune system than supplementation of vitamin C. As a result, regular zinc intake may lead to a decrease in the number of colds. The composition of Rutinacea Junior lozenges also includes vitamin C and rutoside.
Rutinacea Junior lozenges work by supporting the immune system and protecting cells from the destructive effects of free radicals.
It is recommended to take 1 tablet 1-2 times a day. For adults and children over 3 years of age, the recommended dose is the same. The tablets have a sweet fruity taste, which makes them easier to use with the youngest patients. The tablets should not be swallowed or chewed after application into the mouth.
Rutinacea Junior – precautions
Rutinacea Junior is a line of preparations with extremely safe action. They are used primarily as an auxiliary, in the period of increased morbidity, in order to increase the natural protective barriers of the human body. They can also be taken outside the period of colds.
The most important adverse effects resulting from the use of Rutinacea Junior preparations are allergic reactions. For this reason, Rutinacea Junior should not be used if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. It is not recommended to increase the amount of doses taken, which will not affect the more effective work of the preparation. The use of Rutinacea Junior does not cause conflicts when taking other supplements or medicines at the same time.
The preparation can also be used outside the period of illness.
