An Englishman, a lover of strong drinks and a gourmet, went, already “drunk”, into a Scottish bar. He wanted to be more deeply imbued with the flavor of local drinks and asked to splash sweet fragrant Drambuie into a glass of whiskey.
The bartender complied. “And stir?” – the visitor did not calm down. The bartender advised him to use a rusty nail from the bar, the client took the advice without hesitation.
When he returned home sober, he remembered only that he drank an amazing cocktail, which he associated with a rusty nail. And so the name stuck.
