Russian standard vodka: history, types + interesting facts

Vodka with a promising name is produced by one of the largest alcohol companies in the country – the holding company of the same name, which owns factories in St. Petersburg and Tatarstan.

It should be noted that the drink fully justifies its name: the Russian Standard brand accounts for about 30% of premium vodka sales in Russia.

As for the foreign market, branded products are supplied to more than 80 countries and have won over 10 prestigious awards.

Brand History

The elite drink was first presented to the consumer in 1998. The founder of the brand is entrepreneur Rustam Tariko. It was he who gathered under his supervision young St. Petersburg chemists and technologists to create a unique product.

Describing the trademark, the manufacturer emphasizes the primordially Russian character of his offspring. This emphasis is not accidental. The recipe of the product is based on the developments of the creator of the periodic table – Dmitry Mendeleev, taken as a model in the preparation of the imperial vodka standard of 1894 and the modern Russian Standard vodka.

Today, the brand’s products include 4 lines of elite spirits, the annual sales of which are about 27 million bottles.

Production specifics

An elite drink is produced at a young St. Petersburg plant, founded in 2006. The following are used as raw materials:

  1. Selected winter wheat grown on the fields of the Chernozem region, which provides products with a delicate bread aroma.

  2. Soft, free from impurities, glacial water of Lake Ladoga.

Manufacturers emphasize that alcohol for making a drink goes through 200 stages of distillation and multi-stage purification. The result is a crystal clear product that exceeds the parameters of the “Lux” category in terms of its characteristics.

Types of vodka “Russian Standard”

The brand’s collection includes 4 variants of an elite strong drink:

  1. Original

    Cassie vodka, the flagship of the collection, produced since 1998.

    The most popular product in the brand line, especially at home.

    It can be consumed pure chilled, with ice or in cocktails.

    The manufacturer recommends tasting with ginger ale as part of Russian Mule. Available in different volumes: from 0,5 to 3 liters.

  2. Gold

    Spectacular vodka with gold embossed label for special occasions.

    Produced according to an old Siberian recipe tested by Peter the Great.

    Includes ginseng extract, has a surprisingly rich and mild taste.

  3. Platinum

    An exquisite product, in the production of which silver filtration technology is used.

    The result is an elegant product with a soft, balanced taste and a delicate citrus aroma.

    Suitable for pure consumption and cocktails.

  4. Imperia

    The youngest drink in the brand line, created for connoisseurs of luxury in 2004.

    Belongs to the category of super-premium and is available in a six-sided bottle with a high cap.

    The manufacturing technology includes ultra-fine cleaning with rock crystals from the best Ural deposits and 72-hour exposure in special containers.

Interesting Facts

In addition to the national elite vodka, among the brainchildren of Rustam Tariko are the Bank of the same name, a credit and insurance bureau. The holding is the owner of a whole network of enterprises for the production and distribution of alcoholic beverages. Among them is the famous Italian company Gancia, which produces wines and aperitifs.

According to Shanken’s IMPACT Newsletter, an American publication, the Russian Standard trademark is the world’s leading Russian premium vodka brand in terms of sales.

All bottles of Russian Standard vodkas expand slightly downwards. The manufacturer “borrowed” an unusual form of packaging from the Tsar Bell.
