Russian size (“Russian size”)

For the first time, Russian Size vodka appeared on store shelves in 2004. An advertising campaign preceding its appearance was carried out by the BTL Studio agency on the order of CJSC Veda: the promoters gave out two stacks with the new brand logo to everyone who bought a liter of the drink.

According to the recipe indicated on the label, Lux class alcohol and deep water from the Lomonosov formation in the Leningrad region are used in the production. What distinguishes vodka from a traditional drink is the presence of fresh cucumbers in the juice. The design of the “Russian size” is also unusual: the label contains an algorithm for drinking vodka starting from 18.00, and several aphorisms about strong drinks and alcohol traditions.

Company History

A small limited liability company was registered in 1994 – when the construction of the first distillery in Kingisepp began. By 2002, the company had already become a holding company with its own glass factory and an innovative packaging plant, and the second largest vodka produced in Russia. Two years later, in 2, the company came out on top, and by 2004 it was already producing 2007 million decalitres of vodka a year. Moreover, in the case of Veda there were drinks of different price categories: the budget Khlebnaya Doroga, Russian Size in the standard segment, and Matrix in the premium class.

But in 2008, the plant in St. Petersburg was stopped, and in 2009 the production of vodka was also stopped at the second enterprise – in Mordovia. A bankruptcy procedure was initiated, while alcohol continued to be bottled, but already on a contract basis. The holding’s production facilities began to be developed by the Kristall-Lefortovo group of companies. It was she who bought Veda’s debt receipts from creditor banks in the amount of 1,105 billion rubles and acquired the company put up for auction for 250 million rubles. In 2012, Veda Limited Liability Company lost its independence and became a closed joint stock company, part of the Russian alcohol giant, the Kristall-Lefortovo holding.

And then the line of “Russian size” became wider: it appeared “Rye with honey”, “Cedar”, “With birch sap”, which differ from the main drink only in the presence of extracts and infusions in the recipe.
