Ruslan grapes – variety
Ruslan grapes were bred by the breeder V.V. Zagorulko by crossing 3 varieties. Thanks to simple agricultural technology, the hybrid has become popular both in small vineyards and on farms.
The progenitors were the well-known varieties “Kuban”, “Gift to Zaporizhia” and “Delight”. This mixture imparted disease resistance and high yields to the hybrid. The percentage of fruiting shoots of the total is 72,6%.
The harvest is well realized. Sellers buy these grapes because they have a long shelf life. The berries do not burst or crumple.

Planting “Ruslana” in the vineyard
The variety is suitable for temperate warm climates. Excessive moisture is not recommended, as the berries will become watery and burst, for example, during prolonged rains.
Grapes love sunlight. It needs to be planted on the south side or southwest side so that it is in the sun most of the day.
There are 3 planting methods:
- To your roots. Planting of seedlings is carried out in the spring at the onset of a thaw or already in May. But in the first case, the seedlings will not wake up. Or they are planted in the fall before frost, starting in the second half of October. Then they cover.
- On old roots by grafting. In this case, “Ruslan” takes root well and bears fruit. It increases resistance to disease, as well as the number of shoots bearing fruit.
- Planting with a branch from the vine. Choose a long mature shoot, bend it and bury it in the ground. It grows and takes root. After 1-2 years, the thrown seedling is cut.
In the last 2 cases, the landing is carried out after the threat of frost or before it. But in the spring the vine takes root faster.
“Ruslan” is unpretentious in care, therefore it is suitable for novice gardeners. Observing the distance between the bushes when planting 1,5 m by 3 m, you can save grapes from the development of many diseases, since this method will provide ventilation.
