Runny nose and sore throat during pregnancy, sore throat
When a sore throat hurts, and a runny nose during pregnancy does not allow breathing freely, these are symptoms of an infection entering the body. Common ARVI can lead to the development of complications that affect the health of the child. Therefore, treatment should be started as soon as possible.
What to do if you have a runny nose and sore throat during pregnancy?
It is very easy to catch a runny nose if, in the midst of seasonal colds, you spend a lot of time in crowded places. And to get a sore throat, it is enough just to get your feet wet.
During pregnancy, especially in the early stages, it is forbidden to use many medications and antibiotics – they are harmful to the baby. Therefore, you need to know what safe means you can alleviate your condition.
You can get rid of the symptoms of a cold like this:
- Pregnant women are not recommended to use nasal drops, as they have a vasoconstrictor effect. Massage helps to get rid of nasal congestion. Use your fingertips to massage the bridge of the nose and the area around the wings of the nose.
- It is important to rinse your nose several times a day with saline or sodium chloride solution. This will get rid of excess mucus and kill disease-causing bacteria.
- It is allowed to put turundas in the nose with a couple of drops of eucalyptus or tea tree oil, or apply 1-2 drops at the wings of the nose.
- If the runny nose has just begun, heat compresses will help. A clean warm cloth heated by an iron should be applied to the bridge of the nose and sinuses.
- Gargling will help get rid of a sore throat. For rinsing, decoctions of chamomile, sage, calendula are used. The simplest recipe for a medicinal solution is a teaspoon of baking soda diluted in a glass of warm water. Gargle the throat several times a day.
- You can relieve your condition with steam inhalation. To do this, you need to use a nebulizer – a small device into which a medicinal solution is poured, and then steam is inhaled, or use the “grandmother’s” recipe – to breathe over a saucepan with freshly boiled potatoes.
It is strictly forbidden to float legs during pregnancy. This can provoke the appearance of bleeding, the threat of miscarriage or premature birth.
If you experience symptoms such as a rise in temperature above 38 ° C, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe headache, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible.
A cold untreated in time can turn into sinusitis, bronchitis, or even pneumonia. Pregnant women need to monitor their well-being and take action in time, even if the runny nose seems very insignificant.
