Rozex – composition, use, dosage, contraindications

Rozex is a medical preparation used in the local treatment of skin inflammations – caused by rosacea – and skin infections. Due to its anti-infective properties, Rozex is used in the treatment of bacterial skin infections

The active substance of Rozex

Rozex is available in the form of a cream (0,75%, 30 g), gel (0,75%, 30 g) or emulsion (0,75%, 30 g). The drug is manufactured by Galderma Polska and is available only on prescription. The main active substance of the drug is metronidazole, which is a bactericidal and protozoicidal substance, belonging to the chemotherapeutic agents from the group of imidazole derivatives. The action of the substance is effective only against anaerobic microorganisms. However, it is not effective in the case of aerobic microorganisms. Rozex (cream, gel, emulsion) should be used in the case of rosacea and in the local treatment of skin infections. The drug is applied topically to inflammatory lesions of the skin, which may appear as pimples and papules. However, it is not advisable to use Rozex emulsion in the topical treatment of skin infections.

Dosage of Rozex

Rozex in the form of a cream, gel or emulsion should only be applied topically to the skin surface. The drug is used according to the doctor’s recommendations, who determines the duration of treatment (usually 3-4 months). Before applying the preparation, clean the skin. Then a thin layer of the preparation is applied to the affected areas twice a day (morning and evening). After using the drug, cosmetics that tighten the skin or cause the formation of blackheads should not be used.
