Rosehip decoction has a pleasant taste and perfectly quenches thirst. However, this is not a complete list of its advantages. Due to its vitamin composition, a freshly brewed drink is often prescribed for the treatment of all kinds of diseases, including in young children.

The benefits of a rosehip decoction

Rosehip broth is rich in vitamins A, C, E, K and P. In addition, it contains organic acids and other useful substances. Thanks to this, a drink made from freshly brewed fruits of the plant can be used as a general tonic and vitamin remedy, as well as a medicine for the following diseases:

– hypovitaminosis; – cold; – jaundice of newborns; – anemia; – metabolic disease; – cystitis and pyelonephritis; – diseases of the gastrointestinal tract; – blood clotting disorders.

Due to the high content of ascorbic acid in the composition, the rosehip decoction can also be used for the prevention of colds and infectious and inflammatory diseases during seasonal epidemics. The drink stimulates the immune system, therefore it will be especially useful for weakened children.

Despite its many advantages, the rosehip decoction has a number of contraindications. You can not use it for allergies, as well as gastric ulcer, which, however, does not occur so often in children.

Method of preparation and dosage of decoction for children

Rosehip decoction can be made in several ways. The simplest: pour 4 tablespoons of washed and chopped fruits with a liter of water, bring to a boil and continue to boil over low heat for 10-15 minutes. The finished drink should be cooled and filtered. To improve the taste, you can add a little sugar, honey or raisins to the rosehip broth, but this can be done only if the child is not allergic to the listed components. For children under the age of one year, it is better to give a drink prepared without any additives.

You can brew rose hips in another way: pour 3 tablespoons of washed berries with three glasses of boiling water and insist in a thermos for two hours. The drink prepared in this way retains all the vitamins and minerals that are present in the fruits of the plant.

The dosage of rosehip decoction depends on the age of the child. An infant can take no more than 100 mg of a drink per day, a one-year-old – 200 mg. Children aged 3 to 7 years are allowed to drink up to two glasses of broth a day, and older ones – up to three. In order for the drink to be absorbed as best as possible, it is advisable to drink it between meals, but not on an empty stomach. It is better to divide the daily dosage of rosehip decoction into 3-4 equal doses.
