Rose Pierre de Ronsard: photo and description
Rose “Pierre de Ronsard”, named after the French poet, became the first in the series “Romance” and won the recognition of experts and amateurs. Learning about its benefits will make it easier to understand its popularity.
Features of the variety “Pierre de Ronsard” and a photo of the rose
The breeders have managed to maintain the shape and charm of antiquity with the quality and endurance of modern roses. The variety is remontant, it belongs to climbing. Claymer is branched, growing from 1,5 to 3 m in height and up to 2 m in width. The growth rate is low, so the bush reaches its maximum size at the age of three. Large bright green leaves shine a little on top, few thorns.
The rose blooms profusely, several times per season. The first buds are the largest, with a diameter of 12 cm. During the next wave of flowering, they become smaller, from 8 to 10 cm. Flowers are single or 2-3 on the stem, densely double, unite up to 150 petals, collected very tightly into a rosette.
In the warm Mediterranean regions, for which the variety was originally intended, they bloom widely, taking on the shape of a cup. The color of the petals is delicate, pink or cream, the edges have a more pronounced pink color.
Roses are successfully grown in harsher climates, but they do not fully open, which is why a pleasant greenish tint appears on the buds
Their color is uneven and on different bushes can be darker or lighter in the middle, have more pink or lavender tones. Long, flexible shoots are used for arches, walls and fences, tied to supports. Dense flowers bloom slowly and touchingly droop under their weight.
Description of the conditions for growing rose “Pierre de Ronsard”
The advantage of the variety is its ability to adapt to different conditions and low susceptibility to black spot and powdery mildew.
But you can get a truly decorative bush by creating the following conditions for it:
- Adequate lighting. The plant needs a lot of sun to develop shoots and form buds. The site should be open, well-ventilated, but protected from drafts. The soil is preferable loamy or sandy loam, loose.
- Correct fit. It is best to do this work in May, when the ground warms up well. The site needs to be loosened in advance, cleaned of weeds, dig a hole, fertilize it and water it. After planting the seedling, the stems should be shortened, leaving no more than 20 cm. Immediately, you need to provide a support to support the shoots.
- Constant care. The plant needs to be watered every 10 days under the root, trying to avoid moisture getting on the leaves, and even more so on the buds. In spring and autumn, fertilizing and pruning are needed.
This variety is frost-hardy, but in areas with severe winters it can die from the cold. The shoots must be bent to the ground and covered with a covering material in the form of a greenhouse or tied in an upright position, laying spruce branches.
The flower turned out to be so successful and unusual that it became one of the best and in 2006 was recognized by the Federation of Rose Growers as the most beloved rose in the world. Blooming buds will decorate any site, and growing will not cause difficulties even for a beginner.
