The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star is the face of Calvin Klein’s new fragrance. The actress admits that she considers herself a closed, closed person and explains why she accepted the brand’s offer.
Why is she? “Rooney Mara does not let anyone influence her decisions and actions, she has an inner core, principles and character,” explains Thomas Burkhardt, vice president of marketing for Calvin Klein Fragrance and Beauty. “This kind of self-confidence accurately reflects the message of Downtown: this is a fragrance for independent and confident young women who, under any circumstances, remain themselves.” And indeed: in a conversation, Rooney Mara keeps aloof, answers in monosyllables … but attention is riveted to herself entirely.
About roles. “There are few interesting female roles in the modern film industry. But I’ve been lucky so far: after the tattooed lesbian hacker in David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I’ve played a manic-depressive girl in Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effect and a pregnant killer in David Lowry’s author’s film The Unsaints (film releases in September . – Approx. ed.). I hope that I will continue to get such non-standard characters.
About cinema. “My shyness is one of the reasons I enjoy acting so much. I hide behind the character and express from his face what I cannot do and say in my ordinary life. Immersing yourself in the world of another person and getting good money for it is not a job, but a real pleasure! But I don’t want to play in the theater: I’m terribly afraid of the stage, contact with a live audience.
About fame. “Since childhood, I wanted to be an actress, but never a star. Film festivals, presentations, interviews – for me it’s a real nightmare! I do not like to be in the center of attention and even more so to talk about myself. I don’t really like to talk at all. Even with my parents and friends, I prefer to correspond by e-mail.”
About explicit scenes. “There is nothing to be ashamed of in the human body. The audience has everything the same as me. I don’t think that seeing me on the screen, someone is shocked.”
About my personal life. “My roles are much more curious.”
About my style. “I am not interested in fashion, I rely on the convenience of clothing. I only have it in grey, white and black. Thanks to this, getting dressed in the morning is much faster.
