Rogersia looks great in compositions with other colors
A luxurious exotic plant suitable for decorating shaded areas. The flower grows even where other ornamental plants do not take root. In conditions of high humidity, it becomes even more magnificent and brighter.
Rogersia is distinguished by large carved leaves, located on long petioles. Foliage of different varieties can be finger-lobed or finger-split. You can propagate a flower in one of 3 ways:
- Seeds. Option for the patient. Collect the seeds in the fall and immediately plant them in boxes with soil. For 2-3 weeks, the seedlings should be outdoors under a canopy that protects from the rain. Then move the boxes to a warmer but not hot place. Temperature range: + 11 … + 15 ° C. When the seedlings germinate and reach 10 cm, open them and plant them in a separate container. They can be taken outside in May. Transplant the plant into open ground no earlier than September.
- By division. Spring treatment to rejuvenate the flower. Delenkas can be immediately planted in the ground. You can share Rogers in the fall. In this case, she should overwinter in a container. When dividing the root, make sure that there is a growing point on each dividing line.
- By cuttings. Summer way. If a leaf has a “heel” and a petiole, it will take root. Plant the cut leaf in a container with abundantly moistened soil. Pre-treat the sprout with root root. Transplant into the ground along with a lump of earth, and only when the plant takes root.
A perennial loves light fertile soil and will reveal itself in all its glory if you choose the right place for it.
Even a novice gardener will find it easy to take care of an unpretentious plant. For the winter, cut off its inflorescences and shoots, and cover the remains of the crown with leaves or peat. In the warm season, the flower needs:
- never dry soil;
- weeding once a month or mulching the soil;
- spring top dressing in the form of a complex of mineral fertilizers and compost.
A perennial is rarely sick and is not afraid of pests. The flower doesn’t require much attention. But you will devote it to her, as the amazingly beautiful plant attracts the eyes and cheers up.
