To prevent water from splashing while taking a shower, glass doors are placed near the bathtub or shower tray or a special curtain is hung. It is not always possible to install doors, and it is also expensive, and for curtains you only need a curtain rod for a bathroom or shower. They also call it a rod, a holder, a crossbar, there are some other options for names, but all this is one simple device – a rod for curtains in the bathroom. Its shape is chosen depending on the type of bathtub or shower tray, as well as the way they are installed (near the wall, in the corner, freestanding).
Materials
The rod for the curtains in the bathroom can be made of plastic and metal. Plastic cornices are the most inexpensive. They are light, do not change color, do not rust, and are easy to maintain. The only thing that can happen to them is that they can bend, but such a nuisance happens very rarely. Only if the rod for the curtains in the bathroom is made of a plastic pipe with a very thin wall or of low-quality plastic. This, fortunately, is rare.
Make a holder for a curtain in a metal bathroom. It can be a thin-walled steel pipe. Ordinary metal is coated with paint or a layer of zinc (galvanized). They are inexpensive, but the paint, and galvanization, peels off pretty quickly. It begins to wear off from the movement of the rings on which the stem is fixed, after which rust quickly renders it unusable.
Bathroom curtain rods are also made of stainless steel or aluminum alloy. If they are made of aluminum or normal stainless steel, they serve for a very long time without changing color and shape. The disadvantage is the high price (compared to other types).
Included with the “stick” for the curtains is a number of rings or hooks. They too can be made of plastic or metal and usually match in color. But not always the “regular” kit moves well. In cheap models, the diameter of the holder may be larger than the diameter of the ring. As a result, they move with difficulty. There is another problem – metal rings make a rather loud sound, which can be annoying. In any case, you can buy other rings. Larger diameter or other material. In order to accurately match the color, take the old ones with you and present them at the store. Then you will definitely not be mistaken in size or color.

A curtain rod in a bathroom can be installed in several ways. The installation method depends on the design of the rod itself and where and how it should be attached.
Telescopic rods for bathroom screens
Telescopic rods are installed in small bathrooms. In this case, the holder consists of two pipes of different diameters. One pipe enters the other, it is fixed at the required distance. There are several models. In some, the position is fixed with a clamp (threaded sleeve), in others – with the help of a spring inserted inside.
At the ends of the telescopic curtain rod there are thickenings that abut against the walls and hold the curtain due to friction. This option is good for ease of installation / dismantling and the fact that you do not need to make holes in the finish. But it can only be installed if the bath is rectangular and it stands along a short wall.

Corner
Corner or L-shaped and U-shaped cornice. They are suitable for square shower trays that are installed in a corner (L-shaped) or against one of the walls (U-shaped). These rods at the ends have caps with holes for fasteners. The type of fastener is chosen depending on the walls (self-tapping screws for wooden walls, dowels for brick and concrete, special butterfly dowels for drywall partitions. Some models for greater stability provide for a suspension to the ceiling – usually it is steel wire, with a ceiling mount.
There are also holders curved in the form of an arc. They are suitable for corner shower trays. They are mounted in exactly the same way. No special differences and difficulties.
Eaves of complex shapes
The bathroom may have an unusual shape. In order for the curtain to be well protected from splashes, the cornice must repeat this shape. There are two options – look for a suitable one or use a flexible cornice. If you set a goal, you can find an oval or round shower curtain rod. Since such bathtubs usually do not stand near the walls but in the middle of the room, such curtain holders are attached to the ceiling.
Other complex curved shapes can be made from a flexible cornice. It is a set of two to three meter pieces of aluminum profile. Aluminum is a ductile metal that holds a given shape well. Bend these segments as you need, cut if necessary, connect with special couplings. Next, it’s up to the installation.
