Rocking chair, green paint: 10 things that bring bad luck

Harmless objects, but signs claim that they can bring trouble to the inhabitants of the house.

Do you think that only we, in Russia, have superstitions? No, really. Each country has its own signs, and they are strangely similar to those in which we ourselves believe. Most interestingly, some of these superstitions have a very logical basis. Things that you will never see in the house of people who believe in signs are in our selection.

1. Ax

In a city apartment, the ax seems to be useless, but in the country you can’t do without it. However, some especially homely people keep such an instrument even in the city. And if you believe the signs, then the ax can turn out to be a powerful talisman: there should be certain images on its blade, and the tool itself was stuck into the doorframe. But there is another side: it was believed that if you keep an ax in the house all the time, it could bring death to one of the tenants. In any case, the item is not the safest to keep in the house.

2. Green paint

Green paint used to be deadly in the literal sense of the word. Parisian green – that’s what they called it. This color was very fashionable in the middle of the last century. It has been used in everything from children’s toys to wallpaper. And all would be fine, but the paint contained arsenic. Because of this, the walls simply breathed in a poisonous gas arsine. In the end, they stopped producing paint with arsenic, but since then it has been believed that green walls in a house are a sign of failure, illness and death.

3. Fireflies

If the children in the country have caught fireflies and brought them home in a bank, it is better to let the bugs out. The firefly is considered the younger brother of lightning. If she hits near the house or a firefly gets inside, this is the imminent death of someone from the family.

4. “Dead” decor

It includes not only dry flowers, but also stuffed animals, and even sea shells. All this cannot be kept in the house in any way: flowers now exude dead energy, shells were once the home of a creature who is now dead, and killed animals are simply barbaric, there are no comments here. All of these things can lead to serious setbacks for the household.

5. Old broom

When moving to a new place, you cannot take a broom or broom from the old house with you. Signs say that she, along with the garbage, sweeps good luck and happiness out of the house. However, a broom is not a thing worth risking for. It costs a penny, so you can leave it in its old place.

6. Red and white flowers

Separately – please, as much as you like. But it’s better not to keep them in one vase. An old omen says that such a combination attracts death to the house. But the bouquet will instantly become safe if you add some other flowers, not only red and white, to it.

7. Open umbrella

Opening an umbrella indoors is unfortunately. This sign is rooted in ancient Egyptian legends and Scandinavian traditions. They say that when you bring a thing to the house that protects you from the rain, you insult the household spirits: it is like telling them in plain text that their protection is not working. Everything in the house immediately starts to go awry. And if you don’t even believe the omens, it is still better to dry the umbrella closed – this way the fabric does not stretch and the umbrella will last longer.

8. Paintings with scenes of wars or disasters

A natural disaster, a battle scene, a natural cataclysm, a shipwreck – neither photographs, nor paintings, nor reproductions with such subjects can be kept at home. Signs say that images of troubles and misfortunes attract them to your home, promising suffering for your family.

9. Rocking chair

If you use it regularly, then no problem – the rocking chair will become the most peaceful object in the house. However, if you have a chair just for beauty, complementing the interior, or inherited, and you yourself never sit in it, then it is better to get rid of such a thing. The roots of omens grow from old Irish legends: they say that an empty rocking chair invites evil spirits into your home. And they carry with them all the worst: loneliness, poverty and death.

10. Cacti

And here is a controversial question. On the one hand, feng shui does not recommend keeping thorny plants in the house: their aggressive energy increases the degree of conflict in the house. Disagreements, quarrels – well, who needs it? But if you put a cactus correctly, for example, on a windowsill or in a hallway by the front door, it can turn into an excellent amulet: its thorns will repel everything bad that may try to enter your home, from gossip to the evil eye.
