Robitussin Junior is a preparation recommended in the treatment of dry and persistent cough.
Drug dosage
Robitussin Junior is a syrup and should be taken orally. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the drug as it may endanger your life or health.
- Children 6-12. age. Orally. 20 ml 4 × / d (dose max. 60 mg / d).
Robitussin Junior and contraindications
Contraindication to the use of Robitussin Junior are:
- allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
- cough with a lot of discharge
- asthma,
- liver failure
- respiratory failure or its risk,
- simultaneous intake of MAO inhibitors,
- giving to children up to 2 years of age.
Robitussin Junior – drug warnings
- If symptoms persist or worsen after 7 days of taking the drug, and are accompanied by fever, headache or rash, consult your doctor.
- Inconsistent use of the drug may have a detrimental effect in people suffering from alcoholism, in children, in patients with impaired liver function and in patients with epilepsy and mental diseases, because it contains ethanol (5 ml of the syrup contains about 0,1 g of ethanol).
- Allergic reactions and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur while taking Robitussin Junior, as it contains onsorbitol, disodium edetate and sodium benzoate.
- People with liver problems should consult a doctor before taking the drug.
- Patients intolerant to certain sugars should consult their doctor before taking this medicine, because it contains sorbitol.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take Robitussin Junior.
- The drug may impair the ability to drive motor vehicles and psychophysical fitness. This should be taken into account especially in patients who perform activities that require concentration, such as: driving a car, operating machinery, working at high altitude.
Robitussin Junior with other drugs
- You should not take Robitussin Juniorz with MAO inhibitors at the same time.
- Dextromethorphan taken with MAO inhibitors may cause drowsiness, nausea, high fever and an increase in blood pressure.
- Concomitant use of zquinidine may inhibit the metabolism of dextromethorphan in the liver, increasing its concentration in the blood.

Taking Robitussin Junior may cause side effects in the form of:
- nausea,

- stomach pains
- dizziness
- sleepiness.
