Risk factors for intestinal polyps
Anyone can get intestinal polyps. However, certain risk factors play a significant role in their appearance:
– Be over 50 years old,
– Have a first-degree relative with colorectal cancer,
– Have already had colorectal cancer yourself,
– Have ever had intestinal polyps,
– Be part of a family with familial polyposis,
– Suffer from chronic inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (ulcerative colitis).
– Overweight or obese; â € ¨
– Smoking and heavy alcohol consumption; â € ¨
– Diet high in fat and low in dietary fiber; â € ¨
– Sedentary lifestyle; â € ¨
– Having acromegaly multiplies by 2 to 3 the risk of adenomatous polyp and colon cancer.
