Rioja Wine & Tapas International Competition

Wine and gastronomy come together again to promote the culinary creation of young promises of international cuisine.

It is already open since last June 15, the call to appear to compete in the cEno-gastronomic event Rioja Wine & Tapas.

The deadline to be able to present will conclude on October 28, and there is enough time to engineer, innovate and create a creative cover that is the perfect companion of the Rioja wine.

It is an initiative of the regulatory council of the Rioja Qualified Denomination of Origin, that has the clear objective of promoting the brand DOC Rioja, and for this its second edition of the contest, they have as their main collaborator the school of Basque Culinary Center.

The incessant search for the best in participation and, above all, to extend the scope to the whole world has made it become an international competition in which students from gastronomy schools or universities from all over the planet.

Looking for an award that a gastronomy, tapas and multiculturalism

All final-year students of gastronomy and cooking schools or universities, over 18 years of age, who wish to create the perfect harmonization for our most international wine are invited to the contest.

For the culinary preparation of the tapa, concept, creativity, design and harmony must be taken into account in the same percentage.

The entries received will be evaluated by the contest jury, made up of prestigious professionals from the world of cuisine and wine, and will decide which proposals pass the cut in a first pre-selection that will take place on November 1 and 2.

The final deliberation of the winner of the gastronomic contest will take place days later on November 7, 2017.

In order to formalize the registration in the contest, it is necessary to send to the contest organization:

• The written recipe for the lid created for the occasion.
• A photograph of the Cover in its final presentation format.
• Detail of the Rioja Denomination of Origin wine chosen to harmonize with the Tapa.
• A brief explanation of why this wine was chosen for the occasion.

The prize for the winner will consist of an excellent gastronomic trip through Spain, touring the cradle of Rioja and the city of San Sebastián, knowing first-hand the best tapas route in the city.
