Rinopantein is a drug available in two variants. Rinponateine spray is a nasal spray, used in infections of the upper respiratory tract, incl. in the so-called stuffy nose, often associated with flu and colds. The drug may also take the form of a nasal ointment, which is used for sinus pain, colds and flu in order to moisturize the nasal mucosa.
Rinopantein – drug characteristics
Rinopantein is a medicinal preparation that is available in the form of an ointment and a nasal spray. A characteristic feature of Rinopantein is a specialized formula of active substances that have a positive effect on the mucosa of the nose and sinuses. Ingredients of Rinopanteina support the regeneration process of the epithelium and moisturize the dry mucosa.
The manufacturer of Rinopanteina is DMG DRUGS MINERALS AND GENERICS, which is based in Italy. In Poland, the distributor of Rinopanteina is the pharmaceutical concern Vitamed.

Rinopantein – composition and action of the drug
The ingredients of Rinopantein spray and Rinopantein ointment are: D-panthenol, vitamin E acetate, vitamin A palmitate, 40 / OE hydrogenated castor oil, EDTA disodium salt, sodium N-hydroxymethylglycinate, potassium sorbate, xanthan gum, natural flavors, isotonic buffer solution pH 7,2. Additionally, the ingredients of the ointment are petroleum jelly, oat protein hydrolyzate (Avena sativa extr.), Sodium hyaluronate (0,1%), Ceteareth-20 and purified water.
The most important ingredient is Rinopanteiny are D-panthenol and vitamin A. Both ingredients increase the elasticity of the skin and restore the balance of the dry mucosa of the nose.
Additionally, D-panthenol has the following effects:
- moisturizing and soothing;
- reduces irritation;
- penetrates the epidermis and reaches the deep layers of the dermis;
- influences the acceleration of lipid and protein synthesis, and also rebuilds the lipid barrier of the epidermis;
- accelerates the healing of wounds with various damage to the skin and mucous membranes;
In turn, the properties of vitamin A are primarily:
- regeneration of the mucosa;
- preventing keratosis of the epidermis and its excessive drying;
- making the skin more elastic and improving its appearance;
- beneficial effect on the process of cell growth and renewal.

Rinopantein – indications for the use of the drug
Rinopantein moisturizes and maintains the moisture of the nasal mucosa, supports the process of reepitalization. It is used in the case of dryness and / or atrophy of the nasal mucosa caused by: unfavorable environmental factors, the use of nasal sprays, other aerosol therapies, other diseases such as drug or allergic rhinitis, ozena. In the opinion of users, both Rinopanteina spray and Rinopanteina ointment are agents that effectively eliminate irritation in the nose caused by infections and viruses.
Rinopantein ointment can also be used after surgery, which prevents the formation of scabs. The ointment accelerates the regeneration of the mucosa also in cases of post-traumatic nosebleeds, as well as after endoscopic examinations or a nasal tamponade.

Rinopantein – how to properly dose the drug?
In the case of Rinopanteina spray, remove the protective cap from the applicator, place your thumb on the bottom of the container, place your index and middle fingers on the wings of the dispenser and press downwards, then release the pressure. Repeat this operation until the first dose is obtained. Slightly tilt your head forward, exhale slowly, apply the preparation to the nostril while inhaling and blocking the other nostril with your finger. It is recommended to use two doses in one nostril twice a day or as directed by your doctor.
In the case of Rinopanteina ointment, you need to smear the inside of both nostrils so that it remains moist, but at the same time does not clog the nostrils. The amount of ointment does not accelerate its action, so you should not over-apply it. It is assumed that for one nostril there should be as much Rinopantein as would be on a quarter of the plate of the smallest fingernail in your hand. This dose will allow you to breathe freely while accelerating the healing process. The ointment can be used up to 3 times a day.

Rinopantein – contraindications to the use of the drug
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the preparation. When adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the preparation and consult a physician.

Rinopantein – important tips when using the drug
When using Rinopanteina, it is worth remembering about a few important aspects:
- if any adverse reaction occurs while taking the drug, stop using the preparation and consult a doctor;
- Before using the drug, check that the package is not damaged;
- the drug should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date applies to the undamaged and properly stored product;
- the drug should be dosed according to the instructions contained in the leaflet, Rinopanteina should not be swallowed;
- after using Rinopanteina, carefully close the packaging;
- avoid contact of the preparation with the eyes;
- the drug should be kept out of the reach and sight of children;
- the drug should be stored at room temperature.

The price of Rinopanteina in the ointment 10 g is about PLN 16, while the price of Rinopantein in an aerosol 20 ml is about PLN 17.

Rinopantein is a drug that has good feedback from patients. However, in the case of hypersensitivity to any component of Rinopanteina, you can choose another medicinal preparation that will help in the regeneration of the nasal mucosa.
One of the more recommended substitutes for Rinopanteina is Irigasin, which is available in a nasal and sinus irrigation set. This set includes twelve sachets and an irrigator.
Irigasin costs about PLN 20 and its properties are as strong as the healing properties of Rinopantein.
