Rice diet for cleansing and weight loss. Rules, varieties and features of the rice diet

The rice diet is rightfully considered one of the simplest and time-tested ways to cleanse the body. Tiny grains are famous for their great ability to remove fluids, and with them salts and toxins – this is what makes rice successfully used for detox procedures. And rice is also indispensable for losing weight: American doctors believe so much in its miraculous properties that they recommend a diet of rice and white sugar to their patients.

The rice diet is famous for the health benefits of this cereal, known since antiquity. Rice is easily digestible, does not cause allergies, helps to restore the microflora of the gastrointestinal tract, cleanses the blood and intestines and is a relatively low-calorie product with a pleasant taste. And most importantly: a rice diet helps you lose weight quickly!

What is detox?

One of the most important qualities of rice used in the rice diet is its ability to bind and remove excess salts from body fluids and tissues, while providing satiety with fewer calories. Therefore, a rice diet is considered beneficial for a condition popularly called “salt deposition.”

In ordinary practice, this disease usually means either the formation of urate crystals in the joints, or the formation of osteophytes, cartilaginous growths. Of course, a rice diet will not be a substitute for treatment in such cases, but it serves as a good preventive measure and a way to alleviate the condition, helping to reduce the calorie content of food and get rid of the consequences of abuse of meat products in the form of harmful breakdown products of animal proteins.

Domestic nutritionists agree that a rice diet will be as effective and useful as possible if you choose not white rice peeled from valuable grain shells for it, but unpolished brown rice.

It retains a high content of potassium, lecithin, folic acid, phytin and has a pleasant nutty flavor. Cooking such a product as part of a diet on rice should be a little longer, and it tastes somewhat rougher than the usual refined one, which is due to the valuable qualities of natural fiber in its composition.

However, of course, the predisposition to diseases of the joints and the musculoskeletal system is not the only reason to use the popular and beloved by many cereals to cleanse the body.

“Rice cleansing” has a beneficial effect and, if necessary, improve the condition of the skin, and with a tendency to edema. The rice diet is a popular way of “unloading” before a serious and long-term restructuring of the menu to get rid of excess weight, which is also used as an independent method of express weight loss.

Rice diet rules

There are several variations on the rice diet, but for any of them to be successful, it is important to follow these rules:

  1. Don’t skip breakfast – be sure to eat rice in the morning (see the recipe for the right rice breakfast for cleansing below).

  2. Do not drink water immediately after eating rice will impair its ability to absorb toxins. You can drink water 30 minutes before a rice meal or 60 minutes later.

  3. At the same time, the rice diet should be accompanied by a large amount of liquid – due to its absorbent properties, rice has a strengthening effect. Your daily water intake – not less than 1,5 liters of clean non-carbonated water.

  4. The rice-free diet works best – refrain from adding salt in your rice diet dish.

  5. During the rice diet avoid not only salted, but also hot sauces, both industrial and homemade. Rice can only be seasoned with vegetable oil!

  6. Millet groats, pumpkins, apples, raisins – these foods are rich in potassium, which is often bound and excreted together with salts, will become good companions of rice in the diet.

Fermented rice breakfast

This homemade “medicine” is used to detoxify, improve well-being and lose weight. The method of its preparation may seem bizarre, but such a circumvention makes it possible to release useful substances “hidden” in the grain and make the rice diet as useful as possible.

A kilogram of rice should be soaked in water and rinsed daily for 20 minutes under running water for 7 days. Then the rice mass is allowed to drain, put into a ventilated dish, stored in a cool place and consumed for breakfast, after filling the portion with hot water for 15 minutes.

Rice diet for 7 days

For breakfast, you eat 2 tbsp. l. boiled or soaked rice and only after 2 hours you can drink water or apple juice. The next meal on the weekly rice diet is allowed only after 4 hours. It can be a regular lunch, but with a focus on healthy eating and with control over portion sizes (vegetables, boiled lean meat, fish, fruits). For dinner, you should also eat 2 tablespoons of boiled or soaked rice. Before going to bed, you can drink a glass of low-fat kefir. Such a menu should be maintained for no more than seven days.

Rice diet for 3 days

A mono-diet on rice gives a quick weight loss result (from 2 to 4 kg for the entire period), but you should not abuse it – like any strict diet, the express rice diet is fraught with exhaustion. With a pronounced deficiency of nutrients, the body no longer loses extra pounds or harmful toxins, but valuable muscle tissue.

For a rice diet for three days, boil 400 grams of brown rice in plenty of water and divide the resulting mass into 5 meals. During breaks, you should drink plain non-carbonated water (at least 2 liters per day) and green tea without additives (no more than four cups).

Often, the beneficial properties of rice inspire famous nutritionists: rice days are part of more complex, compound diets, such as the diet of Margarita Koroleva. In this case, they are combined in a strictly defined order with other mono-diets (fish, vegetable, chicken, etc.).

American Rice Diet

This rice diet technique, invented by Walter Kempner, an employee of Duke University (North Carolina, USA), made a splash in the middle of the last century and has not lost its popularity to this day. In fact, it is a timeless eating style invented by Mr. Kempner in the struggle to normalize weight, blood pressure and kidney function in the American nation. Building on the initial findings of Kempner, now considered one of the fathers of modern dietetics, Duke University continued to work on the popular topic, but in 2002 announced a break with the legacy of the developer of the American rice diet.

The American Rice Diet is based on the following rules:

  • the basis of the diet – from 250 to 350 grams of rice, boiled without milk, salt or other additives;

  • the total calorie intake of the daily menu is not less than 2000 and not more than 2400 kcal;

  • banned: all juices, any fruits, as well as tomatoes and avocados;

  • allowed dried fruits cooked without added sugar;

  • legumes are allowed;

  • for patients with severe obesity, high blood pressure and impaired kidney function, the daily water intake is limited to six glasses;

  • after a steady improvement in the condition, the American rice diet allows you to enrich the menu with vegetables, potatoes, and low-fat sources of animal protein;

  • taking multivitamins is recommended;

  • lose weight and improve your health should be under the supervision of a therapist.

According to Walter Kempner’s research, adaptation to the American rice diet takes two months.

An interesting feature of this way to lose weight and improve health can be considered that Kempner suggested using only white rice for nutrition, believing that it is absorbed much better than unpeeled, and also recommended that his patients, at the adaptation stage, “get” calories with the help of … white sugar. He explained this by the fact that the healing potential of rice in this context covers the possible losses from the use of refined sucrose, while sugar remains a source of available energy without excess fat and animal protein.
