Rhythmic gymnastics for children: how old to send the child (classes)
Young gymnasts learn to masterfully wield a rope, hoop, ball, ribbon, and their performances to music resemble a beautiful dance. Rhythmic gymnastics for children contains elements of choreography and acrobatics. At what age to send a girl to gymnasts, and what awaits her in the future, caring parents think with excitement.
Until the end of the last century, there were only women in this sport, it was only thanks to Japanese athletes that men began to hold men’s competitions. But only girls are recruited to the gymnastics sections.
This sport, whose homeland is Russia, appeared about a century ago thanks to the Russian ballet school. And in the 80s of the XX century, he entered the program of the Olympic Games. Since then, Russian athletes have often become Olympic champions, bringing home gold, silver and bronze medals.
At the beginning of the XXI century, Russia occupies a leading position in the world in terms of the level of development of this sport. Each city has amateur or professional rhythmic gymnastics schools.
How old should you start rhythmic gymnastics
Performing a difficult performance program requires a good memory and a certain level of physical development. Therefore, girls are recruited for rhythmic gymnastics in specialized schools no earlier than 8-9 years. And four-year-old children also come to sports clubs, being engaged in general physical development at first.
To enter the school of the Olympic reserve, it is necessary to undergo physical training, which children receive in sports gymnastics sections.
The little gymnasts’ lessons last several hours a day. At an older age, the time of daily training can go up to 14 hours. After 16 years, girls from rhythmic gymnastics move to ballet or choose a job as a teacher, and only a few continue their careers until the age of 25.
The benefits of rhythmic gymnastics
Through daily exercise, children develop ideal stretching, flexibility and muscle strength that will last a lifetime. Parental support, dedication, hard work and willpower help to achieve good results.
Rhythmic gymnastics gives young girls beauty and grace. This is a very versatile sport that requires flexibility, precise coordination of movements, masterly control of your body.
The gymnast is always distinguished by a proud posture, the ability to present oneself, harmonious movements and a strong balanced character. All this is the result of hard work and hours of training. Every day you need to do morning exercises, do push-ups, pump the press, stretch certain muscle groups. The lack of summer vacations and time for walking in the courtyard does not guarantee victory at the Olympic Games. But a smart girl, becoming an adult, will be grateful to her parents for an excellent upbringing.
Having decided where to send the child to gymnastics, you need to buy sportswear and shoes for training. Usually this is a special gymnastic leotard and gym shoes.
For performances, they buy a beautiful swimsuit embroidered with sequins and rhinestones, and for daily workouts in the hall, the most common option is suitable.
You may need sports equipment – ribbons, balls or a hoop. The trainer will tell you what exactly you need to buy. In some sports schools, the equipment is given out in general, for the duration of lessons in the gym.
It’s great if parents help their daughter to do rhythmic gymnastics, take her to competitions, empathize and support her mentally. Perhaps in the future she will become the world champion and the pride of Russia.
