Rhinophenazol

Used in acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa, exacerbations of chronic rhinitis in the course of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis or colds (immediate symptomatic treatment).

ACTION

Combined preparation for topical application with antihistaminic and vasoconstrictive properties

INDICATIONS AND DOSAGE

Acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa, exacerbations of chronic rhinitis in the course of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis or colds (immediate symptomatic treatment). Adults and children after 6 years of age. 1-3 drops into each nasal passage, not more frequently than every 4-6 hours, usually not longer than 3-5 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation or adrenomimetic drugs, angle-closure glaucoma.

WARNINGS

The preparation is intended for nasal use only. If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3-5 days, please consult your doctor. Do not use in children under 6 years of age. Packaging for use by one person only. The use of the preparation requires special care and consultation with a doctor in the case of: increased intraocular pressure; cardiovascular diseases (e.g., ischemic heart disease, hypertension); diabetes; overactive thyroid gland; pheochromocytoma; prostatic hyperplasia. Benzalkonium chloride contained in the preparation may cause irritation of the nasal mucosa. Using the drug for a longer period than recommended or using it too frequently may lead to secondary rhinitis and its irreversible damage. The use of the preparation in pregnant and breastfeeding women is allowed only when, in the doctor’s opinion, the benefit for the mother outweighs the potential risk for the child. In therapeutic doses, the drug does not impair the ability to drive motor vehicles. People driving motor vehicles should be especially careful as the drug may cause side effects that may impair psychophysical fitness (e.g. dizziness and headaches).

INTERACTIONS

Do not use with MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants due to the risk of a significant increase in blood pressure.

SIDE EFFECTS

Systemic effects may very rarely occur: increased heart rate, increase in blood pressure, palpitations, headache, nausea, somnolence, tremors, weakness, fatigue, sweating, increased blood glucose. The use of the drug for a longer period than recommended or the use of high doses may lead to secondary drug-induced rhinitis manifested by redness, swelling and runny nose.
