Rheumatoid Arthritis – Our Doctor’s Opinion

As part of its quality approach, Passeportsanté.net invites you to discover the opinion of a health professional. Dr Catherine Solano gives you her opinion on the rheumatoid arthritis :

Polyarthritis is a chronic disease and therefore heavy for the person in whom it is discovered. But you should know that this disease is not always very aggressive. Some forms can go away on their own or remain relatively mild.

However, as other forms of polyarthritis are on the contrary very aggressive, it is essential to be followed by a rheumatologist specialist. In fact, current, very powerful treatments often make it possible to stop or contain the development, to keep a normally active life by avoiding flare-ups, pain and extreme fatigue, and to keep the joints functional for life.

Of course, these treatments are far from trivial, but they have transformed care making patients and doctors happier!

On the other hand, if someone around you is affected, encourage them to eat well, exercise, ask for psychotherapy follow-up, and look for all the solutions to live better with their polyarthritis. Also talk to young people in your family about the harmful effects of smoking, which greatly increases the risk of arthritis.
