The standard height for automatic washing machines is 85 cm. If a full-size device does not fit in a given area, they buy low washing machines, no higher than 80 cm. Such devices are usually built in under the sink or countertop, due to which space is saved. We will find out which brands offer low cars, why they are interesting and what is their cost.
Features of low washers
Low machines, installed under the sink or in the cabinet, have side loading. All of them differ in small volume, nevertheless, there is a demand for such SMAs. They have one advantage – compactness, but there are much more disadvantages.
Disadvantages of low washers:
- Small load – from 3 to 4 kg.
- We need a washbasin of a special design – a “water lily”.
- Need to buy special sink siphon.
- They are inferior to full-size counterparts as a wringer – due to the smaller volume of the drum.
- They are inferior to large devices in reliability, durability, equipment with functions, options, etc. (the exception is the Evrosoba brand, which produces only small-sized models).
- They are expensive.
Overview of models from Candy, Eurosoba, Electrolux and Zanussi
There are not so many SMAs up to 80 cm high on the market today. Such machines are represented by 4 brands – Candy, Euroroom, Electrolux и Zanussi. Let’s take a closer look at the proposed models and compare their parameters and cost.
Candy. This Italian brand produces medium and economy class SMAs. Kandy presents washing machines for every taste – frontal and vertical, there are also several low models in the assortment. They are more expensive than many full-size Candys, but still affordable for those who prefer to save money and space.
Candy Aquamatic 1D1035-07
This machine is small in every way. It is not only low in height, but also has a small load. This frontalka does not have a dryer, but the control, as it should be for a modern washing machine, is electronic. It has a classic design and has everything you need for a comfortable wash. The hatch is standard – 30 cm in diameter, opens to the right. The material of the tank is plastic.
- Capacity: 3,5 kg.
- Water consumption: 29 l.
- Spin speed: 1000 rpm.
- Number of programs: 16 pcs. (including washing delicate fabrics, washing program for mixed fabrics, quick wash, wash with plenty of water, prewash).
- Energy efficiency class: A.
- Washing / spinning classes: A / C.
- Safety: partial leakage protection, imbalance and foam control.
- Dimensions (WxDxH): 51x46x70 cm.
- Noise level (wash / spin) – 56/76 dB.
Pros:
- Adjusting the volume of rinse water – depending on the need.
- Erases quality.
Cons:
- When spinning over 400 rpm, it is very noisy and vibrates.
- Jamming of the lock when opening the door – the user claims that this is a design feature and cannot be “treated”.
- Poor build quality. There are claims to the tray – there is no reliable fixation.
Despite its toy size, the miniature washing machine handles laundry just as well as its full-size counterparts. But you can’t call it perfect. There are imperfections in the design and assembly, which some users do not consider critical, others categorically do not recommend contacting Kandy at all. This is an option for owners of small apartments who prefer to wash in small batches.
Candy Aqua 114D2
Compared to the previous SMA, this modification has a load of 0,5 kg more, and a height of 1 cm less. The machine has become even lower and more spacious. This is a free-standing frontal CMA without drying. There is a digital display, control – electronic. The machine weighs 48 kg. The tank is made of plastic. The hatch opens to the right side.
- Capacity: 4 kg.
- Water consumption: 32 l.
- Spin speed: 1100 rpm.
- Number of programs: 16 pcs. (including delicates, economy wash, mixed fabrics, super rinse, quick wash, wash with plenty of water).
- Energy efficiency class: A+.
- Washing / spinning classes: A / C.
- Safety: partial leakage protection, imbalance and foam control.

- Noise level (wash / spin) – 56/81 dB.
Pros:
- The device is stable even at the highest speeds.
- Compact, roomy, light weight.
- Relatively affordable price.
Cons:
- The maximum temperature is +75 degrees. Users would like to wash towels etc. at 80-90 degrees.
One of the users wonders why the machine, after completing the spin cycle, pours water into the tank for 5 seconds and then turns off. This is not a defect, but refilling – such a procedure is necessary so that during the next wash, when the flush from the dispenser is performed, the powder does not enter the pump.
With a height of 69 cm, this low-rise washing machine can be placed under the washbasin. Users are extremely happy with the price. In this model, the shortcomings that were encountered in previous versions are eliminated. Users are sure that there are no analogues with such a cost and dimensions on the market. The main competitors are the low Eurosob washing machines, but their cost is many times higher than that of the low Kandy SMAs.
Euroroom. Evrosoba is a little-known but prestigious Swiss brand specializing in the production of small-sized SMAs. Its products are characterized by a long service life and increased reliability of all parts. The assortment includes SMA up to 70 cm high. Eurosoba devices are a class higher than Kandy, and their cost is 2 or more times higher than Italian mini-washers.
Euroroom 600
Small-sized front SMA for embedding under the sink. The brand offers a set of shells of a special design. Drying is not provided. Management – rotary levers. Weight – 36 kg.
- Capacity: 3,5 kg.
- Water consumption: 50 l.
- Spin speed: 600 rpm.
- Number of programs: 12 pcs. (including washing delicate fabrics, super rinse, quick wash, prewash).
- Energy efficiency class: A.
- Washing / spinning classes: A / E.
- Safety: partial leakage protection, imbalance and foam control.
- Dimensions (WxDxH): 46x46x68 cm.
- Noise level (wash / spin) – 56/76 dB.
Pros:
- Reliable – many users write that for many years of service there has not been a single breakdown.
- It washes clothes with high quality – it is in no way inferior to large SMAs.
- Wrings clothes well – after washing it is almost dry.
- Simple and clear control.
- Qualitatively washes out the powder – if not put in excess.
Cons:
- At partial load – strong vibration at high speeds. The device rolls on wheels.
- Not the most economical use of water and electricity. This brand, as well as competitors, have low CMAs with much lower water consumption and a higher energy class.
- Although the control is electronic, the choice of options is made by rotary knobs.
- No child protection.
This model, like all SMAs from Eurosob, is not cheap. Its main advantage is reliability and declared service life. The manufacturer promises 15 years of perfect work. Tanks for all modifications are made of stainless steel. Among the users who left feedback on the Eurosoba, there are many who have been using Swiss mini-washers for 10-15 years.
Euroroom 1000
Frontal SMA under the sink or countertop. Management is mechanical. There is no drying. Weight – 50 kg. This model is better than the previous one. It uses less water, saves energy, spins at higher speeds and holds 0,5 kg more laundry. The case is galvanized, painted with powder enamel.
- Capacity: 4 kg.
- Water consumption: 36 l.
- Spin speed: 1000 rpm.
- Number of programs: 12 pcs. (including washing delicate fabrics, quick wash, prewash, stain removal program).
- Energy efficiency class: A+.
- Washing / spinning classes: A / B.
- Safety: partial leakage protection, child protection, imbalance and foam control.
- Dimensions (WxDxH): 46x46x68 cm.
- Noise level (wash / spin) – 44/61 dB.
Pros:
- Low noise.
- There is a compartment for liquid powder.
- Оremoves any dirt.
- Quality pressing.
Cons:
- Unpresentable plastic used for decoration. Because of him, the washer does not have a design (according to a number of users).
Eurosoba 1000 is one of the best models in its class. Works flawlessly for 10 years or more. Users have claims to the manufacturer about the design. But the brand bends its line, it does not try to please the consumer externally, does not make bright advertising, its washing machines are made in the same style, and they cope with their main purpose perfectly well.
Electrolux. The Swedish brand represents middle-class CMA in our market – dozens of frontal and vertical machines. There are only two models below 80 cm.
Electrolux EWC 1350
Front free-standing SMA without drying. Management is intelligent. Weight – 52 kg. The tank is made of plastic.
- Capacity: 3 kg.
- Water consumption: 39 l.
- Spin speed: 1300 rpm.
- Number of programs: 15 pcs. (including washing delicate fabrics, economy wash, anti-crease, super rinse, quick wash, prewash).
- Energy efficiency class: A.
- Washing / spinning classes: B / B.
- Safety: partial leakage protection, child protection, imbalance and foam control.
- Dimensions (WxDxH): 50x54x67 cm.
- Noise level (wash / spin) – 53/74 dB.
Pros:
- There are legs adjustable in height.
- Works relatively quietly.
- Clear control panel.
- High maintainability.
Cons:
- Low energy class, which means that the model is not the most economical.
- Low class washing and spinning.
- The user is unhappy that water gets on the machine placed under the sink. It is not for nothing that Evrosoba offers a special-designed sink in the kit, Electrolux does not have such a kit.
- There is a breakdown – depressurization of the protective gland.
- Internal electrical wires are not hidden in a protective channel.
- The device is quite heavy, damages the floor when moving.
This model is chosen by those who have nowhere to put a large device. You won’t save much on this machine – it itself costs more than many full-size SMAs from other brands, the energy consumption class is low. Many consumers conclude that the price of this washer is clearly too high, since the choice in this class is small, and the Electrolux brand is very popular compared to Eurosoba.
Electrolux presents another low CMA – Electrolux EWC 1150. It has lower spin speeds. It is slightly narrower than the previous model, its depth is 51 cm. Management is with the help of rotary knobs. In all other respects, it practically does not differ from the EWC 1350.
Zanussi. A sought-after Italian brand that has surpassed many German brands in popularity. Offers SMA of different types in the middle and budget price category. Service life – about 10 years, assembly is carried out in different countries to determine the country of origin, when buying, you should look at marking.
Zanussi FCS 1020 C
Stand-alone frontalka controlled by rotary knobs. Compact modification with a plastic tank.
- Capacity: 3 kg.
- Water consumption: 39 l.
- Spin speed: 1000 rpm.
- Number of programs: 11 pcs. (including washing delicate fabrics, economy wash, super rinse, quick wash, prewash).
- Energy efficiency class: A.
- Washing / spinning classes: B / C.
- Safety: partial leakage protection, child protection, imbalance and foam control.
- Dimensions (WxDxH): 50x52x67 cm.
- Noise level (wash / spin) – 58/76 dB.
Pros:
- A full-fledged, high-quality washing and a good spin are not inferior to full-size machines.
- Works quite quietly.
Cons:
- Users are dissatisfied with washing modes, rinsing quality.
- There are complaints about increased noise. Especially strong sound when spinning.
- The bearings rusted after two years of operation. Repair cost 6000 rubles.
- Very long wash cycles – about 2 hours.
- On the only fast mode – 30 minutes, the powder from the laundry is poorly rinsed out. You have to include an additional rinse, as a result, the time savings are small.
- You can only wash one large item at a time.
Compactness is the main and, perhaps, the only advantage of this modification. In all other respects, it is in no way superior, and in some ways inferior to full-size counterparts. The main drawback is clearly overpriced. You have to pay for the space you save.
Zanussi offers another model with a height of 67 cm – FCS 825 C. It has the same as the previous CMA, a load of 3 kg and a similar water consumption. But it is less noisy, its noise figures are 53/68 dB (wash / spin).
Conclusions
Summarizing:
- SMA, low in height, are modestly presented on the market. They are offered by only three brands.
- Low cars have a limited load, the maximum option is 4 kg.
- Despite the small dimensions and limited loading, the cost of SMA up to 80 cm is quite “full-size”. The high cost is associated with a lack of competition, low demand and supply, and Eurosob, in addition, has a high quality of parts, materials and the entire assembly.
- The price of low SMAs is high, contrary to expectations. It doesn’t make sense to buy an expensive half-load mini version if you can get a full-size device for the same price, or even less. Such machines are bought only with direct “indications” for the purchase of small-sized washing machines – lack of space and small volumes of washing.
The minimum height of the CMA, for those that are on the market today, is 67-68 cm. Washing machines with a height of 60 cm are represented only by semi-automatic and activator machines, as well as wall-mounted CMAs from Daewoo Electronics – DWD-CV701 PC.
More reliable and durable are low cars produced by a manufacturer who specializes in them. And what to choose – a little-known Swiss brand that produces only small washing machines, or hyped “Italians”, for which low machines are just a small touch in the production process, it’s up to the buyer.
