Beluga Hunting is a small line of infused drinks from the Russian trade and industrial company Beluga Group. It includes two liqueurs: Beluga Hunting Herbsl (herbal) and Beluga Hunting Berry (berry). This line was created in 2015 and since then has been consistently produced at the Mariinsky distillery (Kemerovo region).
Beluga Hunting Herbal
This is a forty-degree rather sugary greenish-brown elixir.
The composition of the drink, in addition to the aforementioned alcohol, water and sugar, includes such components as: St. John’s wort, wormwood, oak bark, anise, ginger, pine nuts, pine buds, cherry leaves, juniper, coriander and hops.
Therefore, it is not surprising that in the aroma of the finished decoction, the smells of herbs, tree bark, nuts and spices are easily captured. The original balanced taste is somewhat reminiscent of a sugary children’s cough mixture. In general, fans of the genre will appreciate this drink.
Beluga Hunting berry
Mahogany colored liqueur containing 38% ethanol.
In addition to the basic alcohol-water-sugar base, it contains the following ingredients: brandy or cognac, cranberries, rose hips, red and chokeberry, juniper berries, lingonberries, blueberries, oranges, lime, citric acid, rose extract, hibiscus, linden color, anise and cinnamon.
The result is a drink that has a truly indescribable berry-herbal taste and aroma, accompanied by spicy echoes. At the same time, unlike the herbal version, berry liqueur is less sweet.
How to drink Beluga Hunting liqueur
Both of the aforementioned drinks from Beluga are best consumed, like Jägermeister, in their pure form after a meal. Chilled to -15 degrees, the liquor is served in frozen fifty-gram shots / shots and drunk in one gulp. However, a less sugary berry version, according to lovers of it, perfectly accompanies game or even poultry.
Considering the healing and simply warming properties of both drinks, they are strongly recommended, for preventive purposes, to be added to tea. Some enthusiasts offer to “tweak” their coffee with them, but this is purely an amateur.
The extremely young age of Siberian liqueurs has not yet made it possible to create world-famous cocktails based on them, although work in this direction is already underway. As the first steps towards creating your own new drinks, we recommend taking the classic Becherovka and Jägermeister cocktail recipes and replacing the above elixirs, respectively, with berry and herbal Beluga. Well, and, of course, we sincerely hope that you will share with us the results of your experiments.
