This year’s seventh edition of the Mam Haka na Raka campaign is dedicated to lymphomas – cancers of the lymphatic system. The social campaign conducted within its framework entitled Review Lymphoma focuses on the role of careful observation of disturbing symptoms in the body and of the patient-doctor relationship in diagnosis, which is very important in the treatment process.
The Review Lymphoma campaign was created by high school students from Gdańsk – winners of the 7th edition of Mam Haka na Raka. The winning campaign design is based on the popular Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson theme.
The participants of this year’s edition conducted, inter alia, lectures for over 120 thousand people, persuaded over 100 thousand people Poles to sign the declaration. According to the latest data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of patients with malignant lymphoma increases by about 4-5 percent every year. It is estimated that 7,5 thousand Poles suffer from this group of cancers every year. – It is very important to talk about this disease and the need to undergo preventive examinations – said Dr. Janusz Meder, president of the Polish Oncology Union – organizer of the Mam haka na Cancer program.
The essence of the nationwide Mam Haka na Raka program is the involvement of youth from upper secondary schools in building a health-conscious society and convincing them to carry out preventive examinations. Every year, the program is devoted to the prevention of a selected cancer, and its effect is a nationwide social campaign, designed by the participants of the program. Previous editions of the program were devoted to cancers of the breast, prostate, cervix, lung, colon and skin cancer – melanoma.
