How often, after eating in a restaurant, we leave the fork and knife, without even thinking about their position. And, meanwhile, the way the cutlery lies in relation to each other and to the plate can tell a lot about whether you were satisfied with the service and the dish.
And even if this language of cutlery is more likely from forgotten than from modern table etiquette, it is worth knowing it – firstly, so as not to inadvertently offend the waiter and the cook, or, conversely, silently point out the imperfection of the dishes served.
