Performing height tests is necessary if you want to work at height. For example, future construction workers are required to perform them. Working at height is one of the most dangerous. You need a referral from your employer for high-altitude research.
Altitude research – how to prepare
During high-altitude research a blood glucose test is also performed, so you should go to the test on an empty stomach. The last meal should be consumed no earlier than 12 hours before collecting the material for testing. During the visit, it will be necessary to visit doctors of three specialties – an ophthalmologist, a neurologist and an ENT specialist. Only after these three consultations, the occupational medicine doctor issues an appropriate certificate, which is in a sense a permit to work at a specific – indicated on the referral – height.
Altitude research are not particularly complicated. If you are not struggling with serious neurological disorders and your eyesight and hearing are in good shape, you will certainly get a positive judgment. The entire course of research depends largely on the height at which you intend to work. Even work above 1 m above the ground is considered to be work at height. The higher the height, the more frequent visits for inspection – mainly ophthalmologically. The scope of health requirements that the candidate must meet also varies. If you want to work at greater heights, they are also more restrictive. It should be remembered that the employer may not allow a person who has not undergone specialist examinations to work. However, if he breaks the regulation, he should take into account a financial penalty that he may receive in the event of an inspection.
Altitude research and glasses
In Poland, working at height with glasses is unacceptable. The glasses may fall off at any time, which may be a threat in the case of significant visual impairment. In addition, they evaporate when temperatures change, which makes it difficult to see. In the case of a visual impairment, wearing contact lenses is a better solution, which increases the comfort of use and the safety of the employee. A height worker also needs to see the colors correctly. In addition, the mobility of the eyeballs must be normal. It is also necessary to maintain binocular vision.
