A request differs from a demand and an insistence in that it does not imply a binding obligation, but leaves the possibility of refusal.
A real request is always a synthon, but in practice, what is presented as a request in form is actually a requirement.
If such a requirement is a requirement (instruction) of the manager, and in form it sounds soft, like a request, this is also syntonic communication, a manifestation of politeness, good manners and a high level of corporate culture.
If the demand is not justified, but covered by the form of a request, this is manipulation and conflict.
In close relationships, most issues are resolved at the level of a request. However, if the requests do not help, but the question is general, it is completely normal (and correct!)
