In the winter months, the “Heating” column in bills looks the most impressive. Therefore, when heat meters began to be introduced in Our Country, many exhaled – before that, everyone paid according to the standards. But it turned out that the installation of heat meters is not a panacea.
– Unlike electricity and water meters, with devices for measuring thermal energy, everything turned out to be more complicated. This became clear not immediately, but after several years of their mass distribution. It got to the point that even the Ministry of Construction called for abandoning the installation of such devices. But the initiative was not supported by other departments. Therefore, now heat meters continue to be used and installed, although there are enough legislative gaps in this part, – says former head of the management company Olga Kruchinina.
Installing heat meters, at first glance, seems like a simple and reasonable solution. In fact, from a technical point of view, everything is more complicated.
As you can see, there are a lot of nuances around heat meters. It is still difficult to call the technology perfect. At the same time, the owners of apartments with such meters are required to service the devices. We tell you how to replace heat meters in 2022.

Modern heat meters serve 10-15 years. Detailed information is in the product data sheet. If you bought an apartment in a new building, but the document was not handed over to you, check the information with your management company or heating network organization that deals with heating in your region.
In addition to the service life, heat meters have an inter-calibration interval. For different devices, it ranges from 4 to 6 years. The specialist checks the operability of the device and changes the battery, if it is in the device. The problem with verification is that it cannot be done at home. The structure is dismantled and taken to the metrological laboratory. The service is not cheap. In addition, verification takes several days. So it must be carried out outside the heating season.
The term for replacing the heat meter also came up if the device failed. It stopped working, could not pass verification, or the seals were torn off.
“After you have notified the management company or the heating network organization that the device is faulty, you have 30 days to replace it,” notes Olga Kruchinina.

Since the obligation to replace heat meters lies entirely with the owner of the home, the schedule here is individual – depending on when the device was last installed or taken away for verification.
