At any time of the year, our hair needs a certain amount of care. Cold or heat, daily blow-drying, or using any other styler can all affect them. Woman’s Day has tested popular hair oils and will tell you which ones will help restore and maintain hair health and shine.
– I used to dislike hair oils. They seemed to me greasy, uncomfortable, from them the hair quickly got dirty and became like sticks. But then I gave our relationship a second chance and seriously approached the issue of choosing the ideal one.
Kevin Murphy, YOUNG. AGAIN, about 2100 rubles
Expectations: it is very important for me that the oil is light, rinses off freely and does not leave a greasy shine.
A paraben-free leave-in oil from the American brand Kevin Murphy promises to leave hair soft and smooth with daily use. Manufacturers promise that the product will protect against overheating from stylers.
The key ingredients of the oil are immortelle, burdock oil, chestnut seed extract, safflower oil, apple extract (which the product smells like), sugarcane extract, camellia and lemon oil.
Reality: I love the means tested for days, months, years. YOUNG oil. I have been using AGAIN for about three months and have experienced all the advantages of this product. This weightless oil has an excellent light aroma. Every time after washing, I apply the product to my hair and blow dry. The result is instant. If you experiment and remember your hair after washing it without using oil and applying it the next day, you will notice how it becomes silky.
Due to its light consistency, the oil does not grease the hair and allows the hair to look for 2-3 days clean.
Rating: 10 of 10 points. I know that a good oil can be bought at the pharmacy and mixed from several (and it will come out much cheaper), but I am pleased to buy a product in the store with which you can take care of your hair and pamper it.
Pantene Pro-V, Keratin Restoration oil, with vitamin E, for weak and damaged hair, 309 rubles
Expectations: the manufacturer promises that thanks to the PANTENE PRO-V formula in combination with vitamin E, the hair will be smooth, protected from damage during styling, and will also be able to restore damaged hair.
Reality: the oil spreads easily through the hair and does not leave a greasy shine after blow-drying. At first, the product has a too bright aroma, but after an hour a slight haze remains. Hair is definitely softer and more manageable, and it also lends itself better to styling.
Rating: 8 of 10 points. An excellent product with a good price, but I would argue about recovery. With the help of PANTENE PRO-V oil, you can perfectly maintain healthy hair.
Secret Professionne, Huile supreme, 3240 rubles
Expectations: One of the most famous stylists of our time, the inventor of the blow-drying technique, Patrick Ales has for many years come up with the ideal hair restoration product and after many months of research has created a deep action nourishing oil with corn oil. The legendary Huile supreme oil is already several decades old, so as a result I had no doubts and even applied it for the first time with some trembling.
Reality: the product contains 10 natural oils that work for deep nourishment and hydration of the hair. Corn oil, castor oil, egg oil, sunflower oil, Cayaput tree oil, wheat kernels, soy extract and stearic acid are responsible for turning hair into silk.
This oil should be applied to the hair for at least 40 minutes, and for best results, then put on a plastic cap for another 20 minutes. The product is easily washed off with shampoo and already when drying your hair you will realize that your hair is incredibly smooth and well-groomed. After straightening, the hair becomes perfectly straight, does not frizz and is easy to comb. A friend of mine (who has been using this product for 3 years now) says that this product not only creates a visual effect, but also really restores the hair, especially the ends!
Rating: 10 of 10 points. Of course, you need to force yourself to use this tool, because not every day there is strength for a watch mask. But if you devote 60 minutes to Huile supreme once a week, the result will not be long in coming.
Organic Shop, jojoba oil for hair, 231 rubles
– I really love hair oils, I have a whole collection of them on my shelf: Less is more, Aesop, Christophe Robin, Weleda. All my beloved, and I use all of them regularly and according to my mood. But I didn’t have pure hair oil yet: I always believed that manufacturers do not just pour several types of oils into their bottles at once. However, as it turns out, pure oils are even cooler than blends.
Expectations: in the description of the organic shop jojoba oil it is said that it has a powerful regenerating effect, nourishes, improves structure, adds shine and volume, improves growth, etc. In general, solid praises. For me, as a fan of such products, it is important that the oil is 100% natural, has a pleasant smell, spreads well through the hair, does not cause allergies, does not dry the hair and scalp, and also nourishes well.
Reality: The aroma and composition of the Organic Shop oil bottle satisfied me completely. It smells of herbs and herbs. In the list of ingredients, apart from jojoba oil, nothing else appears. Easy and pleasant to apply. In its pure form, you need to distribute the oil through the hair, rub into the roots and rinse off after 15 minutes using shampoo. In addition, oil can be added to masks. I am lazy, so I use the product exclusively in its pure form. After the first day of use, the hair became softer and more elastic. I especially liked that the product moisturized the scalp and practically eliminated flaking. Hopefully regular use can get rid of my dry scalp problem.
Rating: 10 out of 10. A good base oil, which, by the way, is suitable not only for hair, but also for the body.
Sebastian Professional, hair oil Dark Oil, 1995 rubles
– Several years ago I discovered such a miracle remedy as hair oil. It turned out to be such a useful thing that now I just can’t imagine how I used to do without this product ?! For a long time I remained faithful to one American brand, only because my hair was grateful for leaving this particular brand, but now I realized that I wanted to try something new. Therefore, I tested the Sebastian Professional Dark Oil hair oil with particular passion.
Expectations: due to the fact that I have been using hair oil for quite a long time, I already understand what exactly I need and what, for example, will not delight me at all. At first I was a little confused by the name, but in the process of using it, I realized that I was worried in vain.
Reality: Sebastian Professional Dark Oil turned out to be on par. First, the visuals will appreciate the product design. The product is in a beautiful, slightly darkened bottle. I think this is an undoubted advantage, since this fact ensures the rational and efficient storage of any oil.
Secondly, the product is thick, at a time exactly the amount that is needed is typed. At the same time, the oil does not accumulate on one strand, but is easily and evenly applied along the entire length. At the same time, the product has a pleasant unobtrusive smell, which is also very important. It is absorbed just as quickly and does not leave a greasy sheen! It’s just some kind of dream, not a cosmetic product!
But, of course, there is a fly in the ointment in this barrel (more precisely, a jar!) Of honey. I have dry hair, which undoubtedly looks better after applying Sebastian Professional Dark Oil, but … the very next morning I get the feeling that my hair has not been washed for at least several days. That is, I have an amazing effect that lasts exactly one day, but perhaps this is precisely because of the peculiarities of my hair.
Overall, I liked the product. Also because literally three or four drops are enough to nourish hair just below the shoulders. Therefore, the expense and price are very economical.
Rating: 9 of 10 points.
Hair concentrate Kativa Argan Oil, 1550 rubles
– I really love hair oils! And most often I use them as thermal protection for damp hair before drying with a hairdryer (I did not have a good relationship with professional protective equipment). I have a few favorite products in my arsenal, but I am always happy with new products. Especially if then they end up on the list of my favorites, as happened with Kativa Argan Oil.
Expectations: From the hair oils that the manufacturer recommends applying before and after styling, I first of all expect a suitable texture for this, which will smooth the strands and leave no oily sheen. It would also be a nice bonus if there were no silicones in the composition. But I’ll tell you right away: Kativa is not an organic brand.
Reality: first of all, I liked the delicate aroma of the oil. True, when applied to curls, it is almost not felt. But maybe it’s for the best. This way the product will not overpower the smell of perfume.
Now about the properties. I used the products as usual before blow drying. I left it for a couple of minutes to fully absorb and began to dry my hair in the usual way. After that, my strands looked healthy and shiny. But not greasy! And this despite the fact that I did not regret the product and generously applied five drops instead of three (as the manufacturer advises).
I would also like to note the convenient bottle of Kativa Argan Oil. Firstly, it is miniature, so it is convenient to take it with you on vacation along with travel kits, and secondly, it has a convenient dispenser, thanks to which you get exactly as many drops of oil as you need.
Evaluation: 10 out of 10. I advise everyone!
Alterna Bamboo hair oil, 2500 rubles
– I believe that hair oil should be on the bathroom shelf of every girl for whom it is important to take care of the health and beauty of her hair. Alterna Bamboo Organic Repairing Oil for Damaged and Split Hair has expanded my collection and I am very happy about that.
Expectations: the manufacturer says that Candy oil with bamboo extract is instantly absorbed, smoothing and restoring hair without leaving an oily sheen. It has thermal protection properties and is also used to prolong the duration of the hair straightening procedure. After application, the hair becomes healthy, shiny and no split ends.
Reality: the oil instantly enhances the internal strength and flexibility of the hair. Increases resistance to external aggressive factors, in my case it is a rectifier! Hair became stronger, looked well-groomed and, as it seemed to me, began to fall out less. In addition, with the use of oil, styling has become easier. I am glad that the product is absolutely natural and now it turned out that it is irreplaceable for me personally. My hair is prone to sectioning, which makes it difficult for me to grow the length. Whatever one may say, the ends are always depleted. Liquid, but now hopefully the picture will change thanks to Alterna Bamboo.
Evaluation: the product is absolutely worthy of its price. I give a rating of 10 out of 10 and I advise everyone to try the oil if you, like me, cannot get rid of split ends.
Dr Konopka, herbal hair oil No. 28, 550 rubles
– I don’t really like hair oils, I only use those that strengthen the ends and do not weigh down the hair. But lately, from hats and heating, my scalp and my hair just begged for support. So I decided to give it a try. Dr. Konopka’s should moisturize the skin, strengthen the roots and nourish the hair with useful elements. This brand is organic, it contains only natural oils. This seems to be both a plus and a minus for me: to wash the oil out of the hair, if some newest developments are not mixed into the product, then it’s still a challenge. Let’s check.
Expectation: as a part of a whole set of different natural oils, each of which has its own purpose. Ginseng, for example, strengthens, while jojoba oil improves hair structure, and so on. Actually, the main thing that Dr. Konopko promises is that after application my hair will get stronger, revive and shine. I’m still skeptical.
Reality: I will run ahead and say that, alas, my dislike for oils has not passed. Dr Konopka oil smells amazing, I am even ready to use it as aromatherapy! Grasses, meadows – beauty. According to the instructions, it must be applied to the scalp and hair and left for 30 minutes. Half an hour is a lot for me, for this you need to specially allocate time for the procedure. Where can I get it? Most often, you wash your head in the morning before work or late at night, which is why, probably, expert masks have conquered the world. But here the effect is promised to be more impressive.
The oil is applied in a fairly standard way, I did not cover my hair with any caps. I washed it off, as advised, with shampoo. Dried it out. And then something went wrong. The hair was heavy and droopy, as if I had not washed it completely. Although I’m sure I’ve rinsed my hair enough. After I washed my hair a second time, the situation improved, the hair was soft. But I know for sure that I will not repeat this ritual regularly, as it should. I have neither the time nor the patience for this.
