“Renew Your View of Yourself”

Adolf Harash read Osho’s book “The Master” for us.

“Osho’s book is one of those wise books that expound the art of authentic being. It differs from the educational treatises of ancient philosophers, and from modern bestsellers with recommendations for gaining happiness, wealth, success … Osho’s book is a textbook of life that plunges us headlong into life itself.

Modern man lives (as a rule) in the chaos of standard life alternatives and loses his own Way in it. Osho does not tell us where and how to go, for who can know this better than ourselves? It simply helps us to understand ourselves.

This book is not for those who seek information. According to Osho, its acquisition is meaningless. He calls not to use ready-made formulas or settings, but to look inside yourself and see the world as it really is for us – without stereotypes and prejudices. Hence the subtitle: Reflections on the Transformation of an Intellectual into an Enlightened One. If your life does not suit you in some way, then the body of knowledge will not help, and you must seek enlightenment.

The main thing in spiritual search is not theoretical understanding, but personal experience

Many of the things Osho talks about may not sound new. For example, about how small the word is and how big the world is. Or “I know I don’t know anything.”

We perceive them as banal. But if this idea is transformed in you, it becomes only yours. And then it is not a banality, but the truth.

“Master” covers many important concepts (“mind”, “strength”, “trust”, “guilt”, “faith”, “compassion”…) that a person needs to understand himself and the world. The book is not designed for one day of meditation and not even for a year. Everyone will find a word addressed to him. As a psychotherapist, I appreciate it much more than many scientific works, because Osho renews my view and helps me not to abuse common clichés and generalizations in therapeutic work.

I think that this book, in a sense, is able to replace the psychotherapist. Read it carefully, thoughtfully – and you yourself will not notice how the issues will begin to be resolved. Sometimes they seem too complex for us to solve on our own, but they disappear when we transform ourselves. The Master is one of those books that will transform us.”
