Mom’s opinion
My daughter has a difficult period – she grows up, turns from a girl into a girl. And it seems to me that she does not always know how to properly react to changes in her body. I wish her all the best, but I don’t know how to properly start a conversation on this topic. She herself does not ask, and I do not want to impose my advice.
Daughter’s opinion
My breasts began to grow, hair on my legs and armpits began to grow, and I don’t always know what to do about it. For example, hair: I think that it is necessary to shave it off, but I am afraid of the consequences – suddenly there will be more of them or they will darken, and I will hopelessly ruin everything. I need advice, but I don’t want my friends to discuss it later, and it’s uncomfortable to ask my mother – I’m no longer a child!
For girls in adolescence, the external changes occurring in their bodies are a very painful issue. It is the lack of confidence in one’s attractiveness and femininity that can serve as a source of irritability and self-doubt. In order for your daughter to listen to your advice, first carefully study the subject of the conversation, and then offer your daughter several options for solving the “problem”, but always with your own recommendation. A story from your personal experience will not be superfluous.
Cosmetologist’s advice
When removing unwanted hair, it is important to consider that teenage girls have delicate skin and are highly susceptible to pain. Wet shaving is most suitable at this age. There are a number of stereotypes associated with hair removal that I want to dispel.
Shaving hair leads to increased hair growth: only in those places where blood vessels are well developed, for example, on the face. On the legs, shaving does not increase hair growth.
Shaving makes your hair thicker and darker: shaving cannot change the structure of the hair. The characteristics of the hair are determined by the roots, which are located deep under the skin: the blade does not touch the roots, but only cuts off the upper part of the hair.
Hair grows faster after shaving: this is wrong. The growth rate does not increase or decrease, it remains the same – approximately 6 mm per month.
