Removal of hemorrhoids with a laser

Sometimes people are faced with such a problem as hemorrhoids, but do not panic, because today there are many ways to save the patient from this disease. Basically, doctors try to treat the patient for this problem with conservative methods, but sometimes this is not possible. Therefore, experts are already using radical techniques, and laser removal is no exception.

What is laser hemorrhoid removal?

Laser removal of hemorrhoids is also called laser coagulation. This procedure belongs to the category of high-tech. It is used at different stages of the development of the disease. If you use this particular procedure, you can save the patient from hemorrhoids in a more gentle way. Also, during laser coagulation, the proctologist eliminates internal and external hemorrhoids. Thus, it is possible to save the patient from thrombosis.

The effectiveness of this technique lies in the fact that laser beams simultaneously cut and cauterize tissue. That is, during the thermal effect of laser beams, proteins and blood vessels coagulate. Therefore, laser surgery is bloodless. Also, after laser removal, there is no risk of infection of open wounds. As for patients, they tolerate this procedure much easier than others.

The essence of this minimally invasive technique is the layer-by-layer burning of hemorrhoids, and minor wounds may remain in their place. Soon they will be covered with a crust, and nothing will remain of them.

If hemorrhoids are external, then the procedure becomes much easier. With the help of a laser beam, the entire node is cut off, and the place and blood vessels are cauterized. Thus, there is no bleeding during the operation.

Nodes are removed using a high-tech apparatus that determines the strength of the beam and its direction. The rays make incisions and cauterize the hemorrhoids absolutely painlessly for the patient. They also act on varicose veins and empty their cavity. In the process, blood circulation in the vein completely stops.

At the moment when the device starts to launch laser beams, the doctor who performs the operation regulates the power of the heat supply and the depth of its impact. Thus, the processing proceeds more accurately and there is no negative effect on the healthy tissues surrounding the hemorrhoids. If the doctor correctly adjusts the parameters of the laser beam, the burn area on the outer shell of the rectum will be significantly reduced. In this case, rehabilitation proceeds much faster.

Indications for laser removal of hemorrhoids

Doctors may prescribe laser removal of hemorrhoids for:

  • hemorrhoids of the first and second degree, as a result of which external and internal hemorrhoids have already begun to form;
  • inflammatory processes occurring in the rectum;
  • anal fissures;
  • hemorrhages from internal hemorrhoids;
  • hemorrhoidal thrombosis.

Sometimes laser therapy is prescribed for patients diagnosed with hemorrhoids of the last stage of development, but only if the classic hemorrhoidal is contraindicated. However, in this case, laser removal cannot be called particularly effective, since hemorrhoids are quite difficult to cauterize. It is possible to excise only some of them, but in the future this will lead to the re-development of the pathological process. Laser therapy is highly effective not only in the external manifestation of the disease, but also in the internal. The laser can remove even thrombosed nodes.

Contraindications for the procedure

This technique has practically no contraindications. The only thing is that laser removal is not performed on patients diagnosed with the last stage of hemorrhoids, as this will be an absolutely ineffective measure. Also, doctors do not carry out such treatment for patients who have an infectious process in the anal area. In this case, the patient must first undergo drug therapy, which will be aimed at eliminating inflammatory processes.

How to prepare for the procedure?

Before proceeding with laser removal of hemorrhoids, the patient must undergo a number of additional examinations. The first step is to pass a general analysis of urine and blood and pass an electrocardiogram. These are mandatory procedures, but depending on individual indications, the surgeon may prescribe additional ones.

The removal is performed in the area of the rectum, so it is very important that it is clean. This will help a special cleansing enema or laxative drugs.

All this must be done before the operation. If the patient only needs to remove external hemorrhoids, then rectal cleansing is not necessary.

A week before the procedure, you must adhere to a special diet, namely, to refuse products that can cause bloating and increased gas formation.

How does laser hemorrhoid removal work?

The operation is carried out in a medical institution. The patient takes a supine position and spreads his legs. In this position, the patient is given local anesthesia. You can start the operation only after six minutes.

If only external nodes are removed during the procedure, then a special micro-incision is made with the help of rays, and hemorrhoidal tissues are burned in layers.

For internal removal, a special anoscope is used, which is inserted into the rectal cavity. The slots on this device will allow laser beams to pass through. The anoscope has a backlight, which greatly facilitates the work of the doctor. As soon as the specialist determines the exact localization of the nodes, he turns on the laser beams, which gradually begin to burn the tissues of the nodes and blood vessels.

If the hemorrhoidal node is small, then it is enough just to cauterize its leg, the large ones are removed, of course, completely. In this case, it is important to prevent the recurrence of the disease.

When treating an advanced stage, laser removal should be combined with sclerotherapy. In this way, a greater effect can be achieved. After the hemorrhoids are removed, the patient needs to lie down in this position for at least half an hour. Once the anesthesia wears off, the patient is sent home. If there are indications for a second procedure, then it is possible only after 15 days.
