Condylomas are benign neoplasms that affect the skin and mucous membranes of the human body. The growths have a pink or flesh color, rarely appear one at a time, most often they are grouped in several pieces. Warts are the body’s reaction to papillomavirus. Neoplasms are often localized on the genitals, resulting in a number of uncomfortable sensations.
Modern medicine offers several methods for removing growths, but laser removal is considered one of the safest and most effective. However, it is important to understand that the removal of genital warts is not an indicator of recovery, since the papillomavirus still remains in the cells, and a relapse may occur with a decrease in immunity. It is for this reason that, in parallel with the removal, immunostimulating and antiviral therapy is also carried out.
Statistics: over the past year, the papillomavirus has been detected in varying degrees of manifestation in 7 patients out of 10. The virus quietly and asymptomatically exists in the body until a sharp decrease in immunity is noted. Growths deprive a person of a full and happy life, as discomfort and complexes appear. The first sign of the presence of a virus in the body is the formation of papillomas, warts and warts on the skin and mucous membranes. If you do not treat lonely warts, then over time their number will increase.
Why warts need to be removed
The aesthetic moment, of course, is important, but the removal of genital warts must be taken seriously, since they can develop from benign to malignant. Condylomatosis of the anogenital region causes a number of uncomfortable sensations: severe itching; burning sensation; a high percentage of the likelihood of injury, followed by severe bleeding, as a result, infection of the damaged area may occur; large warts can ooze, smell bad, cause inflammation and irritation; from condylomas, a malignant formation can result.
There are cases when formations disappear on their own, without extraneous surgical or drug intervention. But it is important to understand that only small formations are capable of self-elimination, which are visualized on the skin and mucous membranes for no more than 3 months.
Condylomas removal contraindications
During the period of contacting the doctor, he carefully studies the growths and individually selects a method for eliminating such a disease as condylomatosis. The doctor takes into account the localization, degree of damage, size and contraindications.
Among the contraindications it is worth noting:
- the presence of malignant tumors in the body;
- pregnancy and lactation;
- dysfunction of the endocrine system;
- photodermatosis;
- epilepsy;
- thrombocytopenia;
- fever;
- hypertension;
- the presence of a herpes infection;
- inflammatory processes on the skin;
- diabetes.
If the growth exceeds 6 millimeters, laser surgery is not recommended, in which case electrocoagulation or surgical section is used.
If there are no contraindications, laser destruction can be performed even for children.
Procedure execution algorithm
Laser hair removal is one of the safest and most effective procedures. Before surgery, the doctor checks the growth at the time of good quality, for this a biopsy is prescribed. After receiving the results of histology, blood tests are prescribed in order to determine the pathogen and select a comprehensive and effective drug treatment. Only after all these manipulations and in the absence of contraindications, the patient begins to prepare for laser surgery.
The area before laser therapy is anesthetized and disinfected. The doctor sets the device power, depth of exposure and beam diameter. The whole procedure takes an average of 40 minutes, everything directly depends on the number and size of formations.
In order to remove warts on the genitals, 2 procedures are needed. The second procedure is carried out at least 14 days later.
After removal, wounds form, which must be carefully treated. The skin will recover in approximately 14-20 days.
The period of recovery
In order to avoid any complications after the procedure, it is strictly forbidden to wet the wounds during the day. After the formation of a crust on the wounds, do not moisten, do not rip off, the scab disappears naturally – its mechanical removal can provoke infection with further complications.
The skin is regularly treated with antiseptics, in addition, the doctor prescribes antibiotic and immunomodulatory therapy.
All medications should be prescribed by a doctor, and the patient strictly adheres to these recommendations and prescriptions.
Additional recommendations: refusal to depilate the treated area, from saunas, intimate relationships (if warts were removed from the genitals), avoid exposure to ultraviolet rays and hypothermia. It is important to follow all recommendations for at least one month, after which you need to see a doctor for control.
In the event that the patient notices redness, inflammation, pain, itching, tingling, purulent formations, bleeding or other signs, an urgent need to consult a doctor.
Benefits of laser hair removal
Among the advantages of laser surgery, it is worth noting: a short recovery period; minimal risk of relapse; no age restrictions; lack of tissue scarring; the procedure is bloodless; the beam affects only the infected areas, healthy tissues are not damaged.
Disadvantages of laser destruction
Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the high cost of the procedure, as well as in some cases the occurrence of side effects, such as redness, burns, skin pigmentation, fever, allergic reaction, swelling. Keloid scars may appear in patients with hormonal imbalances. But all the symptoms of a negative nature usually disappear in the first day.
Three factors are important for the successful disposal of genital warts: an experienced doctor, the absence of contraindications, and compliance with recommendations for recovery. Be healthy!
