How can recurrent cystitis be cured?
Hello. I am 39 years old and ailment that comes back to me very often, I am always looking for help because I suffer from recurrent cystitis. I have been for a long time problems urinating, with a lot of pressure on the bladder, I pee in small amounts and after a short time I have to go to the toilet again, when urinating I feel a burning sensation and sometimes even painful. My lower abdomen hurts very often, painkillers work but only for a short time.
I am under the care of a general practitioner, I perform checkups urine test with culture, the results are inflammation, of course he has medication prescribed, but I’d also like to know home remedies for recurrent cystitis. Is it true that the way to inflammation of the bladder can warm compresses be? My friend also recommended natural teas, stocks, juices, for example cranberry juice – is it a good idea? In addition to warm compresses, what methods for recurrent cystitis can still work? Maybe warm baths or heating the bladder with an electric pillow? I am asking for an answer, I do not want to harm myself.
Your doctor advises on how to treat recurrent cystitis
Recurrent or chronic cystitis may be caused by the following risk factors:
- Kidney stones.
- Bacteria entering the urethra, especially during sexual contact.
- Changes that occur in the urethra during the menopause due to changes in estrogen levels.
- Anatomical abnormalities in the structure of the urinary system
- Genetic predisposition to develop infection.
If you have had two or more urinary tract infections in the last 6 months, you should consider seeing a urologist.
To prevent bladder infections, it’s worth introducing habits into your life that can help prevent infection:
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, to help flush out bacteria in the bladder.
- Urinate frequently, especially if you feel the need to urinate, do not hold back urinating.
- If we are wiping the intimate area after urinating or stooling, or when washing the intimate area, it is important to stop the direction in which we rub or wash, i.e. front to back, never the other way around.
- Take a shower instead of a bath.
- Gently wash the skin around the vaginal opening and anus using a mild soap and plenty of water.
- Urinate as soon as possible after intercourse and wash yourself as explained in section 3.
- Do not use intimate deodorant or other perfumed products on the genital area.
If, despite following the advice above, recurrent cystitis still recurs, see a specialist urologist, as additional laboratory and microbiological urine tests or radiographs may be required.
Concerning cranberries – data on the value of cranberry juice are mixed, but supplementation in the form of tablets can be recommended, cranberries have a much higher concentration than in juice, and its anti-adhesive effect is proven, thanks to which bacteria will not remain in the bladder, they only came out of it when urinating.
