Rehabilitation of convalescents in Ciechocinek. What will it look like?

The 22nd Military Spa and Rehabilitation Hospital in Ciechocinek served as a temporary hospital during the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The hospital is getting ready to admit people who have had COVID-19 infection. These are to be rehabilitation stays, allowing to improve health after illness.

– Rehabilitation will be provided on the basis of referrals from health insurance doctors, as well as for patients who wish to visit us as part of a full-paid stay – said Dariusz Marcinkowski, the hospital’s medical director, in an interview with Polsat News. – We predict that the rehabilitation period will be around four, ranging from two to six weeks. We invite you, being aware that we have great potential in terms of rehabilitation after COVID-19, due to the fact that we conduct cardiological, neurological and systemic rehabilitation. At the moment we run a temporary hospital, so we also have experience with patients requiring hospitalization – said Marcinowski.

According to the deputy director of the 22nd Military Hospital, at the moment it is difficult to assess the need for postovid rehabilitation. However, taking into account the fact that there are almost 3 million infections in our country, some patients are still hospitalized, and some have had to use respirators, even tens of thousands of people may need rehabilitation.

– The process will definitely take many years, as evidenced by the current results, talking about the so-called long covid, i.e. the disease has passed into an acute state a long time ago, while the consequences of this disease, who knows, whether they will not be felt by patients for many years. Hence, the need for continuous, permanent rehabilitation to a large extent, at the national level, is definitely high – added the deputy director.
