Two-chamber refrigerators manufactured by the well-known Korean corporation Samsung are created according to the classical scheme. Thanks to the control system and the optimized thermal insulation layer of both chambers, energy consumption is reduced, so they are at the peak of popularity.

Breakdowns of refrigerators of this type are associated with the device technology. Functionality is provided by a combination of such systems:
- housing with two chambers – refrigeration and freezing, which provide an antibacterial coating;
- a cooling system equipped with two necessary elements – a motor-compressor and a radiator;
- a control module that controls the operation of temperature conditions;
- a device that controls the occurrence of breakdowns (self-diagnosis system).
Minor failures that lead to major failures
Usually refrigerators do not break down abruptly – this is preceded by a whole strip of various signs indicating the likelihood of further breakdown. It is sometimes difficult for an untrained user to catch these “distress” signals, so the problem is triggered until it develops into a serious failure. Take note of such shortcomings in the operation of the Samsung refrigerator with two chambers to prevent breakage in time:
- Sometimes when you press the control button certain commands are not executed. Usually, users reboot the refrigerator, and the problem itself is neutralized, and the problem is attributed to a “glitch”. Most often, the Samsung refrigerator, equipped with two separate chambers, fails for the following reasons:
- The control module breaks due to power surges in the mains.
- The thermistor or its terminals, contacts, wiring fails.
- The No Frost system breaks down.
- No cold in the lower chamber.
- Violation of the tightness of the system, resulting in a leak of refrigerant (freon).
- Violations in the operation of the self-diagnosis system.
In modern Samsung refrigerators (and in models of other brands), repairs usually come down to replacing parts, since many of them cannot be repaired. Service centers have a full repair base to eliminate such situations.
Two-chamber refrigerator “No Frost”: malfunctions
For Samsung two-chamber refrigerators with Cool`n`Cool or No Frost, malfunctions are due to the peculiarities of these systems. Failures are preceded by such phenomena:
- the formation of an ice layer due to an incorrectly set temperature regime, which entails an increased consumption of energy resources;
- overflowing pallet (at the same time, products begin to disappear quickly).

Other problems
In the modern model, the control panel will react to the occurrence of a breakdown by displaying in case of malfunction on display. In simpler modifications, a certain combination of light bulbs or a special ALARM indicator flashes. Breakdown of models with No Frost can be triggered by a number of factors:
- Increasing the temperature in the chamber more than 3 degrees. This can be caused by frequently opening the door on a particularly hot summer day. To fix the problem, close the door tightly and do not open it for several hours.
- Temperature not selected. You can fix the situation by referring to the user manual.
- Fan breakage. No Frost freezers have a special fan that circulates cold air through the freezers. If this part breaks, the entire No-Frost system fails. You can detect a breakdown by the emerging ice or snow “coat” – in models with NF, this phenomenon should not be. Also, the slight characteristic noise that the evaporator fan emits disappears. Important! Sometimes the cooler simply freezes over with ice, which makes it difficult to rotate. The failure is accompanied by noise from the freezer. To fix the problem, it is enough to defrost the system (note that NO FROST models need 24 hours to defrost).
- If the door is incorrectly repositioned, the control panel contacts may be broken. If the lights flash randomly or the panel and display do not work at all, it is worth double-checking the connections.
Breakdowns of refrigerators with two electronically controlled chambers and the No Frost system can also be disturbing with such failures:
- knocking, noise, rattling;
- poor cooling during normal operation of the freezer;
- serviceable freezer in the absence of cold in the main compartment;
- water inside the chambers;
- slow start of the compressor or its start with a long delay;
- continuous operation of the motor;
- display failure.
The problems listed above relate to the electronic part, but there are breakdowns that occur exclusively mechanically. They usually end up like this:
- breaks in the electrical circuit of the defrost heating element;
or such;
- refrigerant leak from the circuit.
Breakdown prevention
Everyone knows how to take care of an ordinary refrigerator. Models equipped with No Frost require special attention and care:
- Avoid manual defrosting. Automatic defrosting is allowed no more than once a year to wash and clean the refrigerator.
- Clean shelves and containers without using abrasive household chemicals. An ordinary aqueous solution of soda is suitable – it will perfectly eliminate odor and pollution.
- The back surface also needs to be processed – it is necessary to brush off the dust and clean the dirt from it in order to protect the device components from overheating.
- In No Frost models, products are stored in bags, cling film or sealed containers.
Two-chamber refrigerators of the Samsung brand are one of the most popular on the market, so if they break down, there will be no problems with repair and selection of parts. But it is better not to bring the situation to a critical state, to notice problems in time and avoid failures.
