What is reflexology?

Reflexology refers to a manual technique that frees the body’s self-regulation and self-healing faculties, on the feet or hands.

It is based on the principle that the feet, hands and ears are the miniaturized representation of the human body. Each reflex zone corresponds to a specific organ, gland or part of the body. By applying rhythmic pressure to these areas, it is possible to localize the tensions and restore balance in the parts of the body that correspond.

The purpose of this practice is to relieve tension and stress, often at the origin of psychological and physical dysfunctions. It also helps to activate blood and lymphatic circulation.

Why go to a reflexologist?

Reflexology can help relieve many conditions or situations:

  • intestinal problems;
  • headaches ;
  • back pain;
  • symptoms of premenstrual syndrome ;
  • side effects of chemotherapy or other treatments for people with cancer;
  • symptoms of multiple sclerosis ;
  • or even pregnancy.

What does the reflexologist do?

The role of the reflexologist is to release tension and stimulate self-regulation. For this, he uses a practice of pressure and specific touch on so-called reflex zones. Note that it can also offer information on the measures to follow to maintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The reflexologist can work as a freelance or employee and works in many structures. These include, for example, a private practice, at home, in a retirement home, a palliative care unit, a pain center, a thalassotherapy center, a sports club, etc.
