Redhead Day 2022: the history and traditions of the holiday
They say redheads have no soul. Let them talk! And we will reject all mossy stereotypes about the owners of fiery hair and together with them we will celebrate an unusual holiday – Redhead Day 2022

For centuries, red-haired people have excited the minds of those around them with their fiery hair, pale skin and an abundance of freckles. Such a striking difference and a numerical minority gave rise to many myths, prejudices and outright tales.

World history has clearly shown us how people with an unusual hair color were accused of complicity with the devil, witchcraft, were subjected to persecution and physical violence. Only by the Renaissance, the attitude towards people with fiery hair began to change for the better. And in the modern world, redheads cause only sincere admiration.

Probably, largely due to such a difficult life path and centuries of injustice, the copper-haired found their holiday – Redhead Day.

When is Redhead Day 2022?

Redhead Day in 2022 will be celebrated several times at once.

  • May 26 is World Redhead Day.
  • September 8th is International Redhead Day.
  • November 5th is National Redhead Day in the USA.

history of the holiday

There are two versions of the origin of the holiday. According to one of them, Redhead Day was invented by two sisters – the owners of beautiful fiery-colored hair. They wanted in this way to help all representatives of the red-haired population accept themselves, love and appreciate them as they were born.

According to another version, the Dutch artist Rovenhorst was looking for a model with red hair. He expected to see no more than 15 models, but about 150 fiery-haired beauties came to him. They enjoyed the meeting so much that they decided to see each other like this every year. Since then, in the Netherlands, in the city of Breda, red-haired women, men and children from all over the world began to gather annually.

A wide celebration of Redhead Day takes place in Britain, Ireland and Scotland, which is not surprising – copper-haired people in these countries make up to 13% of the total population. The celebration is also celebrated in the Netherlands and the United States of America. In Our Country, the holiday did not receive wide publicity.

Holiday traditions

On this day, it is customary to enjoy communication with each other, have a good time, walk and feel like a part of a large and friendly red-haired family.

The holiday also has edifying purposes. On this day, it is worth once again telling people, and especially the younger generation, about a respectful attitude towards all people, regardless of the color of hair or skin, the shape of the head or eyes; Remind them of the consequences of labeling.
