What is jasper
Jasper is not considered a mineral, it is a rock. It is classified as a semi-precious stone. A solid red gem has been used for a very long time. At first, weapons were decorated with it, then they began to make jewelry out of it.
In Russia, it was first mentioned in 1742. It is written that the masters Fyodor and Petr Babin, Kirill Obvishchev discovered red and green stones on the coast near the Tura River. Tsar Peter I placed gems in the Kunstkamera and ordered them to be brought to cutting factories.

Jasper appears inside quartz or rocks with hematite, garnet, piedmont and when they combine.

Jasper deposits
In Russia, the stone is mined in the Urals near Mount Colonel. The deposit is located in the area around the mountain for 30 km. There is also the Severo-Kalinovskoe deposit of variegated jasper. It is located 6 km north of the city of Gaya. There is also the Kalinovskoye field. It is located half a kilometer east of the village of Kalinovka.
Scarlet stones are mined at the Anastasyevsky mine. Their structure is heterogeneous, they contain up to 5% hematite. There is also a deposit in Altai.
Calico, wax (reddish-brown) jasper with spots and stripes of scarlet tones are extracted from rocks located in the north of Bashkiria.
In southern Africa, in the Kalahari Desert, gems of different shades are mined: from pale pink to reddish brown.
Pink jasper is brought from the island of Madagascar, the surface of which is patterns of concentric circles. In Australia, reddish-red mukaite is mined. Deposits of this stone are known in Germany, USA, France and India.

- dirt can be washed off with a solution of soap and water, a weak solution of vinegar. Then you should rinse the stones under running water, dry and polish with suede;
- store jewelry in a (soft inside) box.
