Record duty – the doctor worked 175 and a half hours

These are not isolated cases. Earlier, we informed about a doctor who made 600 percent. norm and worked 309 hours a month. The record holder from the Podlaskie Voivodeship worked 309 hours in November. This is 78 hours a week.

Inspections by the National Labor Inspectorate revealed that doctors worked under various contracts in over 250 facilities all over Poland. This is because doctors have too low tax salaries. According to the Ministry of Health, the average salary of a doctor with the first degree of specialization is 3,5 thousand. PLN gross.

The EU directive provides for a 48-hour working week. Those doctors who agree to sign an opt-out (allowing them to work longer hours) may work up to 78 hours a week.

– In relation to six persons responsible for the violation of labor law, proceedings were initiated for committing an offense against the rights of an employee – said Krzysztof Rezanow, spokesman of the District Labor Inspectorate in Białystok.
