December is a special month. Even the winter weather does not discourage you from going to the Christmas market, which is organized in most cities on the markets or promenades. Stalls with Christmas decorations, gifts, a living stable, a Christmas tree, put you in the right mood. There is also a suitable solution for biting frost during such a walk. Hot chocolate or tea will surely satisfy the youngest, but the offer for older consumers is mulled beer or wine. 

To what do we owe the miraculous effect of mulled wine? 

Mulled beer and wine warm up not only due to the alcohol contained in them, but also due to the added spices. The wonderful aroma that we owe to them is not all, because the added ingredients also have a beneficial effect on our health. 

Cinnamon 

A plant known already in antiquity, now used due to its strong bactericidal, fungicidal and disinfecting properties. Cinnamon is also used in the case of lack of appetite, supports digestion, prevents flatulence and indigestion. And above all, it smells amazing. 

Cloves

The antioxidants they contain remove free radicals from the body, which effectively slows down the aging process. They support the removal of toxins from the body. Importantly, on those cold winter days, thanks to their antiseptic properties, cloves strengthen the immune system and eliminate inflammation and infections. 

Ginger 

A home remedy that is great for fighting infections of the upper respiratory tract. Thanks to the anti-inflammatory substances it contains, it is effective in the treatment of colds and joint pain. Ginger is effective in combating stomach ailments, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain. 

cardamom 

It soothes the symptoms of colds and flu, as well as supports the treatment of bronchitis and cough. It has a diuretic effect, which increases the removal of toxic substances from the body. Cardamom and ginger have strong anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to which it reduces pain and swelling in the case of infections, including the mucosa of the mouth and throat. 

Ready seasoning for mulled wine 

There are many ready-made mixes on the market that allow us to quickly prepare a warming drink. I must admit that I have sometimes reached for ready-made mulled wine, which is also tasty, but it is worth paying attention to the fact that its composition is dominated by sugar. The addition of intense spices makes us forget about it while savoring the aromatic liquid. However, is it not worth trying to prepare mulled wine or beer on your own on these long winter evenings? What will we gain? First of all, even greater aroma and distinct taste, and at the same time the possibility of experimenting with the selection of ingredients. A recipe for mulled wine was proposed by one of our readers.

Recipe for mulled beer

 – 0,5 l of your favorite light beer 

– 1 orange 

– 3 tablespoons of honey 

– 1 teaspoon of cloves 

– 1 stick of cinnamon 

– about 3 slices of fresh, peeled ginger 

A method of preparing: 

Pour the beer into the pot. Wash the orange thoroughly and cut into thin slices. Add half of the orange to the beer, leave the rest for decoration. Add all spices and honey to the beer and put the pot over medium heat. Heat it up slowly, stirring occasionally. It is important not to bring the beer to the boil. When the beer is very hot, take it off the burner. Place the remaining orange in the mug and pour it over with the heated beer.
