Raspberry tree Tarusa: planting, care, reproduction

The Tarusa raspberry tree is an elite variety. It has nothing to do with trees. This original bush produces large, tasty fruits.

Planting and caring for a raspberry tree “Tarusa”

The original tree-like bush was bred as a standard raspberry. The lower part of the “trunk” has no branches, but there is a crown. The height of the bush can reach 2 meters. Structural features allow you to abandon the support. Another difference between this raspberry is the complete absence of thorns. Her berries are bright red, fragrant. The size of one berry can be up to 7 cm.

The raspberry tree “Tarusa” has large oblong fruits

A lot of light is needed for Tarusa. It should be planted in open areas. It is better to place the bushes in a separate group or in a row. Do not plant potatoes, tomatoes or strawberries next to raspberry bushes: these crops can infect raspberries with common diseases. Once every 8 years, it is necessary to transplant the bush to another place, since the soil becomes poor in microelements.

You need to plant raspberries in spring or autumn. It will grow well on loose loamy soils.

The soil must be prepared in a week for spring planting, in the fall it is better to increase this period to a month. Soil preparation consists of digging and applying for 1 sq. m 2 buckets of humus, 200 g of wood ash and 150 g of nitroammofoska.

The distance between the planting pits should be about 50 cm. Add organic fertilizer to each pit. The root collar should be at the same level as in the container where the bush was grown. The sprout must be cut off, leaving 25 cm above the ground surface. Water the seedling and lay a layer of humus mulch.

Care consists of watering, feeding, forming pruning, and pest protection. In the first winter, you need to cover the ground around the raspberry.

Reproduction of the raspberry tree “Tarusa”

The shrub can be propagated by roots or shoots. The first method allows you to get seedlings only for the next year, the second – already in the current season.

To get a seedling from a root cutting, you must:

  1. Dig carefully on one side of the plant.
  2. Select a root appendage with 1-2 buds and cut it off.
  3. Place this appendage in a container with peat and river sand in equal amounts and place the container in a warm, bright place.

The sprouts will start to break through and take root soon. When a sufficiently developed root system appears, each plant must be planted separately. They can be planted in open ground only next year.

It is much easier to propagate by shoots, since they are almost ready-made seedlings. For planting, you need to take side shoots growing from the roots, so as to capture part of the root. These seedlings must be planted in a prepared place and looked after as if purchased earlier.

Standard raspberry loves lighted areas, requires some care and attention, but this is the key to a good harvest. Such an amazing bush with large fragrant berries will be grateful for the care.
