Raspberry Taganka was obtained by the breeder V. Kichina in Moscow. The variety is considered one of the best in terms of yield, winter hardiness and unpretentious care. The plant is especially sensitive to drought, so it requires regular watering. Below are a photo and description of the Taganka raspberry variety.
Variety description
The external characteristics of the Taganka raspberry bush are as follows:
- strong shoots up to 2 m high;
- thick and long spines are located on the lower part of the branches;
- on new shoots, the thorns are softer;
- each bush gives up to 10 shoots;
- the average degree of density and spreading of the shrub;
- biennial shoots are brown;
- young shoots have a brown tint;
- the frost resistance of the Taganka variety allows it to withstand temperatures down to -20 degrees.
According to reviews and photos of Taganka raspberries, the description of the variety is as follows:
- large berries weighing 5-6 g;
- elongated fruits;
- juicy pulp and pronounced aroma of berries;
- fruit ripening occurs evenly;
- good transportability.
The Taganka variety is remontant. At the beginning of summer, the berries ripen on last year’s shoots, and in the middle of the season, one-year-old stems produce a crop. The formation of the first crop weakens the plant, and later smaller berries are born. If you need to get one, but a plentiful harvest, then the old shoots need to be cut in the fall.
Productivity of the variety
Raspberry Taganka has a high yield. During the season, up to 5 kg of berries are harvested from one bush, if the necessary care is taken for the plant.
Variety Taganka refers to late-ripening. Berries ripen on annual shoots in August, and fruiting lasts until late autumn.
Landing order
The Taganka variety is planted on previously prepared plots. Be sure to take into account the rules of crop rotation. The soil for raspberries is fertilized with manure or compost, as well as minerals. Seedlings are obtained from adult bushes or purchased at specialized centers.
Site Selection
To ensure good fruiting, you need to choose a suitable place for Taganka raspberries. This plant prefers well-lit places, but can also grow in the shade.
If a dark place is chosen, then this will negatively affect the development and yield of raspberries. Lack of sunlight also reduces the taste of the berries.
Plantings are not located between fruit trees, since dark areas are formed under them. Trees more actively absorb moisture and nutrients, which raspberries may not get.
Soil preparation for raspberries of the Taganka variety begins in advance, in autumn or spring, depending on the time of planting. The soil must be saturated with minerals that promote the growth of the root system.
The predecessors of raspberries are cucumbers, onions, garlic, gourds, perennial herbs (clover, fescue, alfalfa). It is not recommended to grow this berry after tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries due to the presence of common diseases.
Groundwater should be located at least at a depth of 1,5 m. Taganka raspberries do not respond to acidic soils, however, soil with average acidity should be fertilized with dolomite flour.
After harvesting the previous crop, you need to dig up the soil and apply fertilizer for each square meter:
- manure (5 kg);
- superphosphate (2 tablespoons);
- potassium sulfate (30 g).
A month before planting, the site needs to be plowed up, loosen the ground and level its surface with a rake.
Raspberry propagation
Raspberry Taganka is very easy to propagate. From plants over the age of two years, young shoots are transplanted to a new site. Compared to other varieties, Taganka seedlings look thinner and smaller, but they take root well and quickly start growing.
For propagation of the Taganka variety, healthy and productive bushes are chosen, on which there are lateral offspring with a lignified trunk. They should grow at a distance of 30 cm from the mother plant. The offspring should have a height of 10 to 20 cm. The shoots are dug out together with a clod of earth and transferred to a new place.
Landing in the ground
Repair raspberries are planted in one of the following ways:
- Tape landing. Seedlings of the Taganka variety are arranged in several rows, between which 1,5-2 m are left. 70-90 cm are left between the plants. This order will provide the shoots with access to the sun’s rays and will prevent dense plantings.
- Square-bush landing. The plot for raspberries is divided into squares with sides of 1-1,5 m, in which plants are planted.
- Curtain landing. Raspberries can be planted in small groups, including 2-3 seedlings. Leave 70 cm between groups.
- Triangular landing. Taganka seedlings are placed in a triangle with sides of 0,5 m.
Under the seedlings, holes are prepared 40 cm deep and 50 cm wide. They are dug out 3 weeks before the work, so that the soil can settle. After the specified time, the seedling is lowered into the hole, its roots are straightened and covered with earth. Be sure to water the raspberries thoroughly.
Features of care
Remontant raspberries require standard care for raspberries: the introduction of moisture and fertilizers, as well as pruning plants. Planting and caring for Taganka raspberries in the Kuban and other southern regions are simpler, but you need to monitor soil moisture. In more northern regions, intensive top dressing will be required.
Watering plantings
Remontant raspberry variety Taganka needs regular watering. The procedure is performed once a week, in drought it is allowed to increase the frequency of watering. The soil in the raspberry should always remain slightly moist.
When watering, the soil should get wet to a depth of 40 cm. It is especially important to add moisture before flowering and when the fruits ripen. In autumn, the last winter watering is done.
Feeding raspberries
Since the fruiting of the Taganka raspberry variety is extended in time, the plants require high-quality top dressing. Procedures begin in the second year after planting.
Raspberries of the Taganka variety are sensitive to a lack of nitrogen in the soil, so top dressing is carried out with organic fertilizer (mullein infusion in a ratio of 1:10 or bird droppings 1:20). For every square meter of raspberries, 5 liters of such liquid fertilizer are required.
When the first berries ripen, potash fertilizer or slurry is applied under raspberries. Due to potassium, the taste of fruits will improve.
In autumn, superphosphate is added to the soil under the raspberry variety Taganka. For each bush, take one teaspoon of fertilizer, which is embedded in the soil. On sandy soils, you can double the fertilizer rate. Additionally, humus or rotted manure is poured under each plant (1 bucket each).
Trimming for the winter
After fruiting, remontant raspberries of the Taganka variety are cut at the root. This procedure is justified in the southern regions. The following year, fruiting will begin on young shoots. In the absence of an escape, insects and pathogens will not be able to find shelter for the winter.
If pruning is not carried out, then the shoots are bent to the ground and covered with a layer of mulch (dry foliage or spruce branches). Additional shelter is not required for raspberries if a high snow cover forms in the region.

Conclusion
According to the photo and description, the Taganka raspberry variety is a tall bush, resistant to winter cold snaps and diseases. Planting raspberries is carried out on prepared soil, which is fertilized with compost and mineral components. Be sure to follow the landing pattern to avoid thickening. With proper care from the bush, stable crops of large berries are harvested.
