A rash on the palms and feet of a baby can be harmless or threaten with a dangerous disease. Food and household chemicals can negatively affect the baby.

Causes of a rash in a child

Skin rashes can be associated with one of the most dangerous diseases – meningococcal infection. It is rare, but it develops rapidly. A sharp appearance of hemorrhages under the skin in the form of a rash requires an immediate call to an ambulance. The antibiotics given by the doctors will save the baby.

A rash on the palms, feet, and whole body can be a sign of chickenpox.

Other infectious diseases are not so rapid, but require serious treatment. When quarantine was declared in the kindergarten, and the baby developed a rash, there is a high probability of infection. Redness on the skin appears:

  • with chickenpox;
  • measles;
  • scarlet fever;
  • rubella.

Infectious diseases require proper treatment. It is necessary to protect the baby from contact with other people. With serious illnesses, the temperature rises, the toddler becomes lethargic, vomiting or diarrhea is possible.

Infant rashes can be associated with overheating – prickly heat, rare diaper changes – diaper dermatitis. A baby may suffer from a lack of hygiene procedures, when fecal masses eat away at delicate skin. Crawling on the sand and earth, the baby becomes infected with helminths – worms, the baby can be bitten by insects. Rashes from fungal diseases are not excluded. The final diagnosis can be made by a doctor.

An allergic reaction is a frequent guest in the house. The baby’s body reacts to many environmental factors. Allergic skin rashes can be:

  • Because of the food. Citrus fruits, sweets, including chocolate, certain types of vegetables, seafood can react on the skin. When breastfeeding, the mother also needs to follow a diet.
  • On animal hair. By contact with a cat or dog.
  • For chemicals. Reaction to laundry detergent or dishwashing detergent, new clothes with toxic dye, or toys.
  • For pollen during spring flowering.
  • An allergic reaction is also possible with insect bites.

A rash with an allergic reaction, as a rule, itches, causing anxiety in the crumbs.

Skin blemishes can have a variety of origins. It is necessary to examine the infant for other manifestations of the disease. The doctor should be given complete information about the picture, unusual foods in the baby’s diet and related symptoms.
